thoughts on Seymour Hersh's New Yorker article "The Coming Wars"
I've read the article. Given Hersh's past articles I believe him to be trustworthy in telling the truth.

I heard him say on WNYC that the reason he writes such revealing information is because his sources on "the inside" can't get their arguments made within the Bush Administration. Its their way or the highway, if you will.

So this is their way of getting information/warnings to the American people. Much the same way it was being done before the invasion of Iraq.

IMHO any attack on Iran will have the effect of uniting their country, just as 9/11 did this one. The neo-con fantasylanders think it will possibly inspire a popular uprising. Others with-in the Defense/Intelligence establishment think not.

Any attck on Iran will bring about retaliation in a form that is not entirely certain. A direct military response? Hezbollah attack on Israel? Blowback WMD attack with-in the US?

Nevertheless, this group of fascist megolamanics couldn't care less what form of retaliation it may bring. They have their bunkers, their money, their police/military powers and their Orwellian "freedom quest" for the Middle East sans Saudi Arabia/Pakistan

When do the American people say "NO" ?

2. I have not read much of Seymor Hersch's other articles
but I did read the Abu Ghraib article, and this last one. I trust Hersch and believe he would not publish unless he had researched the facts, for the reason that no one on the Bush side has challenged, (besides using petty rhetoric and flimsy threats), the facts in both his excellent articles.

Wouldn't it be interesting if we knew who those sources are? I suspect Hersh knows all about clandestine survielance, bugging, etc. but he holds the aces in his hand.

At least so far, nothing has emerged that would make me not trust him.

3. The people on the "inside" need to organize.
Do they really want to stop this?

4. Apparently Never
The american people say No, whenever their TV tells them to say no.

Obviously, critical thinking NEVER enters the picture except for a small group of us.

Our country will most likely attack Iran, ensuring war for the forseeable future.

The real question is, what distraction will "they" use to keep the sheeple occupied? The next Scott Peterson? Maybe a Lindsey Lohan "video"? How about revisiting gay marriage?

8. Yes, but thaks to Uber Patriot "Col." Ollie North
Iran has our Hawk antiaircraft missiles to shoot our planes and our pilots out of the air.

Nice move, Ollie. I'm sure America's grieving widows and parents will want to give you some kind of "Patriot Award."

"Oliver L. North, a Marine lieutenant colonel assigned to the National Security Council staff beginning in 1981 until he was fired on November 25, 1986, was the White House official most directly involved in secretly aiding the contras, selling arms to Iran, and diverting Iran arms sales proceeds to the contras. 6. If Sy says it's so, it's so...
My guess of what form retaliation (for a US or Israeli attack of Iran) will take is all of the above, plus direct attacks on US troops in the presently quiet Shia provinces in Iraq.

The blowback will be pretty ferocious, I imagine...:grr:

7. Field Marshall Von Rumsfeld can start a war without oversight....
according to Hersh's reporting, previously held responsibility by the CIA for "black ops" has been stripped from them and given to Rumsfeld with the ability to keep everything "off the books".

In essence, Rumsfeld can start WW III with no oversight, no accountability and no one would know any different.

"checks and balances"?

HA!

9. What Richard Clarke thinks..
in this month's Atlantic Monthly, Richard Clarke writes a futuristic piece that looks back from 2011 at the course of the war on terror.

"Iran's hostile reaction to the US bombing continued into 2008 and made use of Hizbollah allies. (Hizbollah, although composed largely of Palestinians and Lebanese, was created in the 1980s by Iran, which closely controlled it for more than twenty years.) Iran also employed its Qods Force, the covert arm of its Revolutionary Guards. American counter-terrorism specialists had always feared Hizbollah and the Qods Force, because their "trades-craft" was so superior to that of other terrorist groups, including al-Qaeda and its many progeny. Diplomats and military leaders had for years used numerous back channels to keep both groups on the sidelines while we engaged in counter-terrorist warfare. Our overt attack on Iran brought their full power to bear on our citizenry, with tragic results."

The article predicts several large-scale terrorist hits in America, the collapse of Saudi Arabia and its shifting of oil support to China (ending its relationship with US), unemployment surging to 28% in America, etc, etc. A well foot-noted eye-opening, terrifying article.
