Any Democrat who votes for Gonzales' confirmation should
be denied consideration for the nomination in '08 . That's the message I intend to send to Kerry , Biden , Clinton and anyone else that DUers suggest . I have just read Frank Rich's column in today's NYT and the front page review in the Book Section and have concluded that anybody supporting him is not worthy to be our nominee.
The arrogance of the Bush thugs in sending up the name of someone who is one of the architects of this disgraceful chapter in American history imposes a litmus test on the U.S. Senate . I sincerely hope that anyone who wants to lead our country in the future will have sufficient morality and spine to vote no .

1. * is looking for united front in executing tortore - we know
his girlfriend is with him and r***y, and C****y, so he wants more people who believe in torture and willing to execute those orders without accountability

6. I think that part of the reason Gonzales was chosen
was to get spineless Democrats to vote for him so that W could claim that the "... accountability moment ..." on Abu Graib is over and once again we should all just move along . The arrogance of these thugs is surpassed only by their cynicism and our guys still think we are all operating under the Marquis of Queensberry Rules . When will they wake up ?

8. Well said, it sort of ties their hands doesn't it?
Same thing can be said about Dems who voted for the Iraq war resolution.

9. Exactly . We could never get any traction on Iraq
because Kerry and Edwards had been coopted . These guya are very shrewd and the sooner that our people figure out that there is absolutely no benefit in cooperating , the better . I say we fight them on everything , we win the mid terms and then we investigate everything . No more being nice . No more being measured . Although some Democrats may adopt moderate policies , our tactics should be all hardball , all the time .

5. Good Idea
We have to make sure to hold senators accountable for every single vote they cast, even if it means overlooking all the important things they have done in favor of obsessing over symbolic, feel-good votes. This is why we're so successful as a party.

7. -- should be made to explain to our allies why --
-- he or she rose to the defense of a man who recommended that helpless captives be tortured.

Those senators should be made to explain in person especially in those countries whose populations have sufffered from death squads and murders in the night, as well as state-sponsored torture and CIA-sponsored "disappearances."
