Rumsfeld: If you don't support neo-con agenda we'll kill this puppy ...
Edited on Sun Jan-23-05 08:45 PM by HamdenRice
But oh, what the hell, let's just kill the puppies whatever you do.

The new policy from on high is that mascot puppies adopted by US troop units be "hunted down" and killed. Here is a picture of puppy Conner who was hunted down and killed less than 24 hours before he was to be sent to the US:

You can read the soldier's blog and reactions to the euthanasia, here:

While this is horrible, is it really surprising coming from this admin?

2. Rumsfeld knows what poisons and toxins this puppy is probably carrying...
after all, he supplied most of them.

3. We certainly can't let the soldiers adopt puppies
and have something to remind them that they're human, while in the hell of Iraq. We just want them to kill, kill, kill. If it were me, I'd frag the officer that killed my pup.

6. Gee...
THAT sounds like killing. Look, if you can't keep your righteous indignation lined up straight, maybe it would be better to just READ the blog rather than to participate.

8. PETA wouldn't do anything
That would mean actually doing something to help a companion animal instead of trying to interfere in meat eaters lives.

9. Nothing surprises me
about Bush, Cheney, Frist, Santorum, Rummie, Wolfie, Feith, Perle, Cambone, Chu, Myers, Boynton, Condi, Gonzales, 6666666666666666 Ashcroft, Rove.

As to Myers and Boynton - they are the personification of conduct unbecoming an officer and conduct to the prejudice of good order and discipline.

I hadn't heard this before. Rumsfeld wants to destroy mascot animals? Why?

15. Apparently they are considered vermin by the brass ...
and to be fair, it is not clear that this goes all the way up to Rumsfeld, according to some of the military blogs that have commented on this.

22. That's what I meant that they're probably seen as nothing more than
"disease carrying vermin" by the military PTB.

17. You can see Rummy's dilemma, can't you? What if it's a spy puppy?
We can't have Iraqi Spy Puppies running wild in America! What if they disclose secret information to the Chinese Spy Puppies!

20. OMG Maybe the puppy was a member of "Arf Quaeda" or a canine terrorist who
could have incited Barney and "Miss Beazley" to "bite the hand that feeds them." <sarcasm off>

21. Just when I think I can't get any sicker
I read this. I can grasp man's inhumanity to man more than I can man's inhumanity to helpless creatures. I hope there is a special place in hell for Rummy et al.

23. I don't know why I find this so heartbreaking ...
because thousands of Iraqis are being killed and it seems almost racist to worry about puppies. But they just seem so innocent (but so are many Iraqis). I'm conflicted. But that puppy was so, so cute.
