The Devil's Hand: No, It's Not 'Hook 'Em Horns'

"Devil's hand" (or "cornuti" in Italian) signifies that satan rules. It is a universal hand signal used by politicians, celebrities as well as heavy metal bands, affirming their allegiance to satanic powers and a visual shorthand for "Hail, Satan."

The "devil's hand" is familiar to both Bill Clinton and George Bush as evidenced by the photos with the caption "the satanic torch is passed"

Both Laura and George Bush used this hand signal during the 2005 coronation (inauguration)of the US President on January 20.

The mainstream media cartel has vainly tried to explain away this bizarre and occult hand signal by implying that this is the "hook 'em horns" sign used by Texas Longhorn football fans.

Not so. The devil's hand has been observed and photographed around the world, used by George Bush, Bill Clinton, Silvio Berlusconi, Elizabeth Taylor, Prince William, Paul McCartney,Metallica, Ozzie, Avril Lavigne, Stephen Dorff, Dave Navarro and many others.

They are not Texas football fans by any stretch of any imagination.

Former New York Governor Mario Cuomo was shown making this gesture on the cover of "Secret Societies and Psychological Warfare" by Michael A. Hoffman II (1992)

(See Adrian Frutiger, "Signs and Symbols, Their Designs and Meanings.")

The devil's hand signifies the horned god of witchcraft Pan and is an occult sign of recognition worldwide.

68. furthermore.... the hawaiian hand sign is given vertically
According to a Hawaiian hula instructor I know, the sign is supposed to be given:

- vertically, with the thumb tip, the 3 middle knuckles, and the pinky tip in roughly a straight line down

- in front of the chest, in front of your midline, near your heart

- and with a small up-down motion, almost as if you're rubbing your tummy up and down

I'm told it's a bonding symbol between two people, not for mass communication. Yes, it means "hang loose" or "relax", but not in isolation. Think of it as more akin to "go in peace, with my blessing".

The sign is NOT given with a raised arm, nor horizontally in space, nor with a twisting wiggle, nor with that silly throwing motion ala Beavis and Butthead.

Traditionalist Hawaiians think mainlanders look lame when they do those things, but are generally too polite to say anything.

6. When I lived in Spain ...
They used that sign as an insult like a one finger salute.
I was told it meant Cabron, GOAT. They said it, and signed it with such gusto at someone who crossed them in traffic, spilled wine on them etc.

I looked it up.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=cabron

Red hot Chili Peppers had a song "Cabron".

The christians at the time gave their devil Pan's appearance to use it as an excuse to wipe out pagan worship, and those who participated. I don't think that there is a physical description of the devil anywhere in the Bible.

75. It has a few meanings in Italy
Edited on Mon Jan-24-05 03:14 PM by Dookus
one is the sign of the cuckold. You aim it at a man and it means "your wife is a whore."

Another meaning is a "revert" curse. When somebody gives you the "evil eye", it's a protective gesture.

Both of those probably have their origin in the devil, but who cares? The original post said it means "hail satan" and it decidedly does NOT mean that.

76. True, I've checked some links
One website strongly discourages business travellers in Italy from using that sign:

http://www.executiveplanet.com/business-culture-in/132177365197.html

Contorting the fingers and hand to resemble the devil's horns pointed outward is an obscene gesture. Pointing the fingers inward, however, is a sign to ward off evil.

Pointing with the index and little finger is a gesture used only when wishing someone bad luck.

The Warding Off Evil symbology can be found here:
http://www.luckymojo.com/manocornuto.html

The only websites I could find where it specifically denoted that sign as meaning "Hail Satan" were from the conspiracy/religious ones, which won't be convincing to most people. No independent verification of this.

Didn't anybody see the whole UT band doing the same sign. Surely you don't think all those children have made deals with the devil. Of course, there are different meanings to hand signals all over the world; evidence our soldiers in Iraq doing the thumbs up sign until told it was an Iraqi insult.

15. Not sheltered at all.
I went to undergrad school in the south, so I heard it a few times, and I'm well aware that the term is used in other countries. Aussies, in particular, are quite fond of calling us "Yanks". When I hear it used in a derogatory manner by someone from the south, it makes me laugh a little bit for some reason. I'm not engaging in southerner-bashing, mind you; it just strikes me as odd. I wouldn't think of calling someone "Johnny Reb" based on their location.

Eh. Never mind. I was just being contentious for no good reason.

Spellcheck fun: It wanted to change "Reb" to "Reba". Funny, considering the conversation.

http://pictures.greatestjournal.com/userimg/3098934/726424

It uses both hands, and the back rather than the palms of the hands are facing outwards to better simulate Texas Longhorns

And here is something I just got off of an occult research page:

http://pictures.greatestjournal.com/userimg/3098936/726424"

<i>The Horned Hand or "Cornuto" represents the Devil, Satan, The Goat (the baphomet). It is a sign of recognition between those that are in the occult. </i>

Since there are a few people on here that have been to UT, does this arguement hold any water?

I'm a little perplexed by Smirk making this sign, however. I've lived here all my life so I know what it is(I've been the Longhorns play any number of times on TV)and it's not a common greeting like waving at someone.
Smirk's so clueless about being a Texan I suppose he thinks it's a traditional form of greeting here in Texas. It's not.

gesture behind someone's head, it's the sign of the cuckold. Although the cuckold is a bird, the symbolism comes from "cabron", or goat. What's more intersting is that the devil is often depicted with goat horns, a goat beard, and goat hooves.

Edited on Mon Jan-24-05 05:50 AM by fleabert
hold up your hand, do a small finger waggle with the middle and ring finger, like you would do for someone you know in a crowd of strangers (so the wave is different and more personal, they know you noticed them), catch it in a photo with the fingers down, and you have it.

Also, if you have ever spent a lot of time waving at people, it gets tiring and old quick, you have to change it up or your hand and wrist start hurting.

some of these folks could have been doing the I Love You sign as well, as their thumbs are out.

THERE IS NO CONSPIRACY. for the Bushs, IT'S JUST A UT THING!

I should have included a comment about the fact that this has been brought up several times and just showed no signs of stopping. I was irritated and took it out on you, that was uncalled for. Again, sorry.

I will assure you that this is innocent, but I do think Bush is an asshole! He is hiding his ties to the Devil quite well, he won't reveal that thru a hand signal, it will come later, in a much bigger way!

Really, I feel bad, I rarely let my emotions get the best of me and it is silly that one about a hand signal did it!

This is what a hook 'em horns sign looks like

52. I hate to ask but what is the purpose of the actual hook em horns gesture
I haven't even grasped THAT concept yet...is it a hey go team kind of a deal?

Someone should let bushit know that he supposedly represents the whole United States and not just Texas.

I certainly don't see a "Satanic conspiracy" in his hand gestures (BOOOOOoooooo! LOL) but I do find it incredibly offensive (not to mention immature as hell) that he and Quayle and all these other clowns were merrily flashing each other with their Texas hand gesture at the so called inauguration.

No offense to Texans here...but it burns my ass that since Bush has been foisted on us that the whole country is now promoted as one big extension of the state of Texas.

87. team rivalry, team spirit, that kind of thing.
A&M's is a closed fist with the thumb extended upward, and any of UT's rivals use the downward horns to convey their digust with the lovely Longhorns!

34. It's the best of both worlds....
The Bush's took an innocent Texan gesture and realized it was universally accepted as something else by the Elite, so now they can use the excuse that it is just something they do in Texas and still be cool. Since they are filthy rich and have commited so much evil, naturally they must answer to Lucifer.

Kind of like waving your bic lighter around (and burning your hand)for no particular good reason.

In fact, back when Bush** was governor of Texas, he used to make an anual bet with the governor of Oklahoma on the OU/TX game.

Who is that guy in the lower lefthand corner in your picture? He has the most Satanic looking gesture if you ask me. His gesture is different from any of the others if you look at it.

Anyone have time to notify the people at your link? I don't like erroneous info out there saying Bill is doing the Devil sign.

P.S. In Sign Language, the "devil" sign means 'Bullshit', but it is usually produced with the back of the hand facing the veiwer.

Can you find their contact info and let me know, if ya do manage to find it? I will be forever grateful. It just bugs me that Bill and the other people are doing the I love You, and the site is sending wrong info.

put away the television and the bible.....in other words put away the opiate of the masses.

Instead pick up some actual books filled with real honest to goodness history and read.

I could espouse for years on this subject but I'll limit myself with two items

1. The God Pan is a greek God from a civilization thousands of years ago. He was before Christianity and actually pretty decent for a God, he invented music and took care of the woods... http://www.loggia.com/myth/pan.html

2. The bible is the absolute truth....um..NOT!!!!! take a look at the small problems http://tinyurl.com/7y72k

77. The responses are amazing...amazing in the sense
that some posters on this forum claim to know everything and riducle people who seek the truth. All we ask is to seek the truth. Does it mean we believe in the devil and we want some grand conspiracy. NO that is not the purpose. I am an ananlyst and I have worked for some of the biggest corporations around. My job is to question everything. Believe it or not I used to be Republican back in my college years and called democrats liberals, losers etc. does it mean that is what makes a democratic...NO, I actualy started seeing the truth. Our truth does not lie in democrat or republican status the truth lies in what we accept as the truth. Does a secret society have an agenda upon us...You bet seek out the truth. However don't make fun of people because they want to seek the truth while you are to naive to pursue the truth.

Remember we were all naive at one time:

82. I encourage you to go to an UT game sometime and seek the truth.
It will show itself. Grandmas, Dads, babies, toddlers, etc... all doing the same hand gesture. there are t-shirts for sale with the hand on them.

the UT band went by, Jenna went there, they all lived in Austin, it's really nothing.

I am the first to question BushCo. and their affiliations, but shouldn't we stick to that which has not been refuted? The source for this theory has been discredited more than once, the pictures have been explained otherwise. I think it's done.

You have a fetish of sorts it seems. I would not touch this one with a ten foot poll. Do you think any questioning of "official" stories is equal to this kind of stuff. you very rarely address any of the serious threads in a way that shows you have a grasp of the material at hand yet you go out of your way to hurl the same insult at any poster who raises questions about pretty much anything. I am starting to see this is really just a childish game of yours.

84. Silly Silly Silly
I pondered the picture of Bush's metal rocker gesture with a feeling of irony. Ironic that he would offer a gesture which I recall from my youth to be a satanic symbol. Used more as a symbol of youthful rebellion, than as a symbol of devotion to Satan. The irony being that Bush is more like the mythical anti-christ than any contemporary figure.

However, the "hook em horns" is a well known gesture used by Texas football fans. Certainly, a gesture can have multiple meanings. And it would seem, given it's recent proclivity, that it has been generalized further as a symbol "hipness"

To suggest that the use of this gesture by so many notable people connotes a machination on the part of the devil, as I infer from your post, seems unsubstantiated. A machination, when suspected, is almost never true, and when true, is almost never suspected.

As for the Satan aspect, c'mon. Yeah it's the "Devil's sign" and all that but no one really takes that seriously except for deranged idiots. It's communication and approval to bands and recognition of fellow heads. Quite frankly I'm disgusted over it's use by the mainstream and especially by neo-con maniacs.

with the thumb out, as Clinton and Liz Taylor are doing, it's the ASL sign for "I love you". Without the thumb, it's the "rock on!" metal sign - and yes, the UT sign as well.

In reference to metal, it probably started with some stupid 'satanic' overtones, especially 'cause it's known as 'throwing the goat,' but it's used by 99% of metal fans as just "rock on"

In reference to UT, yes, it is a Longhorns symbol. I've been to a Longhorns game and seen hundreds of people doing this to cheer them on.

Is it so hard to comprehend that the same gesture can mean different things? In France and Germany, the "ok" sign is an insult, and in Japan it means "money," so why is it hard to believe that this sign means different things as well? I hate Bush with the fire of a thousand suns, but accusing him of some satanic pact because he's trying to prove his "Texas cred" is just ridiculous.
