9. Andrew Young is a paid liar.
Andrew Young own/operates GoodWorks International.
http://www.goodworksintl.com/

GoodWorks International supported Nike
when Nike denied mistreating its offshore sweatshop workers.
http://www.calbaptist.edu/dskubik/young.htm

Tuesday, Apr. 15, 2003
The controversy over Nike's treatment of the more than twenty thousand workers in Asian factories who make its products has made it all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
On April 23, the Court will hear oral argument in a case that pits California environmental activist Mark Kasky, who is suing on behalf of the general public, against Nike. Kasky claims that Nike violated California's laws against unfair competition and false advertising when it made what he claims to be an inaccurate series of public statements regarding its treatment of the factory workers.
Nike has raised a First Amendment defense to these allegations. It argues that, because its statements are part of an ongoing political controversy and dialogue - in which critics have taken Nike to task for factory working condition, and tried to organize boycotts against it - they are political speech. It therefore has urged the Supreme Court to hold that its statements deserve the full protection of the First Amendment.
<snip>

In addition, Nike bought full-page newspaper ads reporting that GOODWORKSINTERNATIONAL, UNDER CONTRACT WITH NIKE, had, after investigation, found no evidence that workers who made Nike products abroad suffered from illegal or unsafe working conditions.
Kasky believes the critics were right all along, and that Nike made false statements to cover up the mistreatment occurring in the factories. He says he will prove that the statements made by Nike in these contexts were false and misleading to consumers - and thus came within state "false advertising" laws.

Nike was busted.

Nike forced to cease and desist from mistreating their workers,
Which all goes to prove that
Andrew Young is more vicious than a two dollar crack whore.

11. I would love to see someone explain to me why she is qualified
without using the words "black" "female" "historic", or "overcoming".

Seriously.

For one, she is a complete failure. She and Bush are responsible for 9/11, at the very least because of their incompetence and their disinterest. Let's not also forget her lies about this war, and her disdain for anyone who dares question her. Do we want someone so self-righteous and arrogant as our chief diplomat?

Secondly, aren't republicans against affirmative action? Shouldn't it not matter what her sex or skin color is? I thought that, in the conservative mind, merits and qualifications were all that mattered.
Therefore, let's talk about her record and her qualities, both good and bad.

The more the GOP mentions that she is black and female, the more obvious their pandering is.

13. I haven't heard anybody saying that; let's face it, she's as 'qualified'
as a lot of other nominees. I sense in your question the latest take on 'reverse discrimination,' which is that one must never hire a minority or a woman unless he/she is twice as good as a white guy, just to make sure everyone knows that you're not 'favoring' these groups. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Btw, i don't support Condi, but i really haven't heard a lot of people supporting her on the basis of race or sex; if anything that seems to be going on more wrt Gonzales.

14. apparently you don't listen to right wing radio
or talk to a lot of Republicans.

And, no, I do not imply any sort of "reverse discrimination". Nowhere did I say that Condi must be held to any higher standards than, say, a white male.

So, I guess, to be fair, she is as qualified as anyone in the Bush Administration. Of course, that isn't saying much. I could find ten random people on the street that are more qualified than Bush himself.

So, according to the logic of "She isn't any worse than Bush's other picks", then I guess she is qualified.

I just am tired of the Bush Administrations policies of lowered expectations.

19. Huh?
By 'reverse dicrimination' do you mean discrimination of white men? no such thing. Discrimination is discrimination and white men don't need a special term when it's happening to them

That aside, I don't see where the poster is dissing Dr Rice because of her race or gender at all. read it again:

"I would love to see someone explain to me why she is qualified

without using the words "black" "female" "historic", or "overcoming".

Seriously.

For one, she is a complete failure. She and Bush are responsible for 9/11, at the very least because of their incompetence and their disinterest. It appears to be about her lying and her arrogance. Also if I might add, her complete lack of a sense of irony and hypocrisy. This, from the hearings: http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=05/01/19/159255

Rice Defends Iraq War Plan, No Plan For Withdrawal
At her confirmation hearing Tuesday, Secretary of State nominee Condolezza Rice defended President Bush's Iraq war plan and refused to lay out a timetable for the withdrawal of US troops. She called for what she described as "transformational diplomacy." California Senator Barbara Boxer chastised Rice for stating Saddam Hussein was close to developing nuclear weapons during the lead-up to the Iraq war. Boxer said, "Your loyalty to the mission ... overwhelmed your respect for the truth."

Rice: Geneva Conventions Do Not Apply To All
Senators Boxer, Christopher Dodd and Russell Feingold all questioned Rice on the use of torture at Abu Ghraib. Rice refused to describe what occurred at the Abu Ghraib prison as torture. She also claimed the Geneva Conventions do not apply to individuals associated with Al Qaeda. And she defended her recent letter urging Congress to remove anti-torture language from last year's intelligence reform bill. In response to her comments, Feingold said "It is simply not OK to equivocate on torture."

Rice Describes Hugo Chavez Rule As "Very Deeply Troubling"
Rice also singled out Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez charging that his rule was "very deeply troubling." She also described Cuba, Burma, Belarus, Zimbabwe, North Korea and Iran as "outposts of tyranny."

Sen. Boxer Criticizes Rice Comments on Tsunami
Meanwhile Senator Boxer accused Rice of being insensitive about last month's tsunami that killed over 175,000 in the Indian Ocean area. Boxer's statement came after Rice said "the tsunami was a wonderful opportunity to show not just the US government, but the heart of the American people, and I think it has paid great dividends for us."

Just because she may seem as 'qualified' to you to be as a lot of other nominees, doesn't mean those other nominees are qualified either. This IS the cheneybush junta, after all.

Are you saying she can't be seen as wholly inappropriate for the job BECAUSE she is black? That doing so automatically calls the doubter a racist on some level? Because that's what it sounds like to me.
