Barbara Boxer posted at the blog "The Daily Kos."
Is this the first time a Senator has posted on an unofficial blog?

(From the diaries -- kos)

I can't thank all of you enough -- the Daily Kos community, and the blogosphere as a whole -- for all of your effective work during the recent debate over Condoleezza Rice's nomination. Your support and participation in this critical debate meant so much to me.

More than 94,000 Americans from across the country signed my petition and stood together to demand the truth from Condoleezza Rice. It was truly an overwhelming response -- much more than I could have anticipated. You helped to get our message out to millions of Americans -- I couldn't have done it without you.

And you made a difference. You gave me the voice I needed to ask the tough questions during Dr. Rice's confirmation hearings. And you gave the entire United States Senate the voice it needed to take its "advice and consent" responsibility seriously. In fact, Condoleezza Rice received 13 votes against her confirmation -- the most votes against any Secretary of State's nomination since 1825.

Two weeks ago, who would have thought that Condoleezza Rice's nomination would allow us to have a full debate about our policy in Iraq? Who would have thought that we'd have the chance to truly expose all of the misstatements and misjudgments that led us into that conflict and continue to plague this Administration to this very day?

-Barbara Boxer

1. I got a similar email from her.
She said that we have only begun to fight. Why can't the other Democrats be like her, a true American patriot.

15. It would be great, but not wise on her part
Not with the WH funded propaganda media we have.

But hopefully she is our most honored DU lurker. That's also kewl.

30. Her speech on the Senate floor this week
made me swear that she's got to be a long term DUer or at least a long term lurker. Boxer (or at least some of staff) is very well informed.

31. I didn't say this in fear of her being insulted by the rabid right pundits
for her own comments. It is because the rabid right subversives who post here would post something deliberately subversive to one of her posts which would get her into trouble.

8. One small step for man, one giant leap for Congress
Now we need to start enforcing the War Powers Act of 1973 regarding 'truthful' circumstances leading to use of US military. This act was suppposed to prevent 'fabrications' and 'pretexts' in the use of our troops. What went wrong ?

11. Did it include any penatlies, civil or criminal?
Laws with no civil or criminal penalties often don't do much.

13. That is only illegal if the person is under oath. That is why
Condoleezza refused to go under oath for her 9/11 testimony.

It's pretty amazing when a Senator reaches out and finds you on your own turf to talk to you.

Guys and gals, I think blogs have arrived.

16. You have recommended giving money to the GOP
and recommended bombing brown folk, and called environmentalists wackos. Now again you are calling a Democratic Senator a traitor.

All in fun you say. I wonder.

Put him on immediately after Oparh Winfrey.

Great ratings, great for Democrats.

It's nice to know that a few elected officials are paying attention to what happens on the blogs. Senator Boxer is one of the best.

28. Time to make a donation to BOXER!
I'll note in the comment box that I blog at DU.

It doesn't matter that she may not be our Senator, she IS a voice for us. I now consider myself one of her supporters, especially after contesting Ohio.

I hope all 94,000 that signed the petition donate at least ten bucks. That would be nearly a million bucks!
