Paul Newman vs Lieberman in 2006?
Am I behind the times with this rumor? First I've heard of it...www.atrios.blogspot.com....how old is Newman, anyway? Of course, anyone who could beat LIEberman would get my support.

8. That is where I heard it too.
I'd use all my PTO time helping the campaign....and I live in Ohio.

3. He just turned 80
Newman's 80th birthday was just a couple days ago, actually. AMC played "The Color of Money" for it. Great flick.

13. Good ol' Frank Lautenberg is either 79 or 80
One of the 13 who voted against Rice (although Corzine didn't).

Obviously, then, I don't care how old Newman is - - I was just answering the question. Newman is, by the way, the best looking dude who ever lived.

He could very likely beat Lieberman. Newman may be old physically, but he's much younger than Lieberman mentally, who dates back to the Middle Ages.

6. Loved him in Road to Perdition, which was recent.
He doesn't seem to be aging anymore...why not?

Even if he doesn't serve the full term, displacing Lieberman would be worth it.

10. Way back in the 80s, there was a bit of a move to draft Newman
But, that was to run against Lowell Weicker... nothing ever came of it & Newman just turned 80 earlier this week.

11. There is one liberal Democrat that could beat anybody in CT, hands down
Jim Calhoun - coach of the UConn men's basketball team.

12. I believe Paul Newman is actively driving in sanctioned sports car races
so thankfully age is only a number for some people who are an inspiration for the rest of us.
