Talking point.

They say that Dems are weak on defense, but because of Bush's spending like a drunken sailor the Pentagon is cutting back on the F-22Raptor, killing the tilt rotor, canceling all replacements for warships being retired in the next decade, and at least two destroyers and one amphibious landing craft have been cut. The Pentagon anticipates more cuts to offset the cost of the Iraq war.

Don't forget that the largest cut in defense spending came under George Bush 41 and Dick Cheney was the hatchet man.

Nope, just can't trust us Dems with defense spending, we'll starve the military and kill all the new technology.

1. Not to mention he killed 1400+ troops

and lost another 20,000 due to injury and desertion.

Plus lost the war in Iraq, effectively another Vietnam.

3. IMO Raptor should be cut

waste of billions on a weapon system designed to fight the USSR -- don't think there's much threat of us having to go toe-to-toe with the Soviet airforce.....how about putting a little of that $$ to protecting our ports of entry guys?

5. Yes, of course, and besides

they are letting contracts for the Joint Strike Fighter before the first F-22 even rolled off the production line.

But, I'm not so sure about not needing a force to reckon with the Russian Bear. Recent developments brought on by Dubya have Russia, China, India and Venezuela making alliances to counter our position as the last super power. If we don't make a major reversal in our imperialism we just may be in for a new cold war.

8. AWOL-in-Chief might be poking at hornets nests, but

we are, and will in all likelihood remain for the forseeable furture, quite well prepared to fend off anything that could be thrown at us. the one problem would possibly be dealing with the sheer numbers of aircraft - or other weaponry - and even a $1 Billion plane is of limited effectiveness when confronted with a 100 $1 Million planes.....so wasting money on new fancy, expensive systems isn't the best allocation of our resources

(not that I think that was what you were advocating for anyway, btw)

VA benefits, charging vets for food, lodging, and medicine in VA hospitals. Also, cutting back survivor benefits.

That should indicate competitiveness, but then there's waste, fraud, and those non-competitive bids.
