My Hero
I hope everyone who, like me, is opposed to the death penalty, will take a moment to find and email Senator David Haley, Kansas. Just to say a quick 'bless you, sir' as his bill to end the death penalty in Kansas goes to committee. I suggested the argument that if they ended the death penalty, they might be able to afford a health care plan for the state, since we're all going to be without health care pretty soon. Thanks.

1. Could you direct me
to some information about this? I read through the paper and the Legislative news and did not see anything about him or his bill. This would be terrific. Thanks.

4. All should be aware
That ALL prisoners get lifetime good medical care!
In OR, a prisoner on death row for several years must have dialysis at a cost to the state for that one thing of over $12,000 each month.
Let's just get them to lock up our kids who are sick or need surgery when we can't afford treatment!

5. Wow . . . no really
God, I'm stupid - how come I never thought of that? You're right - we just go to some WalMart, steal a tube of liptick like we did when we were ten and we've got instant health care. This could be really cool. Do you suppose they do special diets? (vegetarian).

6. Thanks for your penetrating insight

I have much food for thought from those detailed, and incisive, comments. As we all know, money is so important.

edit: For the poster who commented at length about dialysis in prison etc. Not the person above.

8. I'm not certain I understand
how you mean this. IMO if we are going to house them for life, and that is preferable to me than killing them, then it is our responsibilty to care for them. If that means they need dialysis then they should have that. Goodness knows they didn't get that sick because they wanted to be on dialysis and they must be miserable enough as it is. There can't be that many who need something that expensive.

10. Now your average idiot
would say "because I didn't commit no crime and I ain't got health care!" f Not understanding that we ALL deserve health care. Hear that, America? We deserve health care! Demand it! They are OUR tax dollars - and I personally would rather pay some prisoner's health care than pay for blowing up Iraqis. good idea, yeah.
