I didn't see it and I'm wondering what kinda shit they spewed.

On Dickface's sight he had the title "Canadian TV takes aim at O'Rielly. How low will they go?"

Yeah...real 'balanced'

And I saw the CBC bit - it was totally legit.

23. They anihilated the fool and his lonely Canadian fellow conservative
Franken calls him on one lie and gets yelled at by the bully. CBC called him on multiple lies. I think he is going to declare war. They even brought up the fact that both he and the Canadian conservative (a Coulter wannabe) were currently under investigation for sex charges (she has a stalking investigation going on).

She said he was stalking here and all this shit...HUGE media hype case, then she admitted in the end she was stalking him.

6. I love Fox News
Edited on Fri Jan-28-05 08:49 PM by AG78
Fair and balanced. They have O'Reilly, and two guests, one from UPI(Moonie people), and a poli-sci teacher who says CBC is scared that Fox News might become a hit up north.

They showed a clip of Franken tearing up as he was talking about going over to Iraq, etc, on a USO tour. Then they 3 of them poke fun at Franken because he was crying.

As I laugh, I hear the woman say that the CBC dared to say that Hussein didn't have WMD. O'Reilly agreed with her. Fox News still says Hussein had WMD.

I cannot describe my love for Murdoch and his media empire.

11. What do you think of Al-Jazeera?
They're tremendously popular in the Middle East.

All of us DUers are "the people." There are millions like us (at least 48% of the voting public alone), and there is no channel that even sort of reflects our views. Do you know why? Because it isn't in the interest of the media corporations who have Republicans in their pockets. The people don't decide what they watch; the corporations do.

If you want a really good, in-depth explanation of what's wrong with the media today, read Bill Moyers's book, Moyers on America: a Journalist and His Times; I know of no other journalist who loves his country and its ideals as much as Moyers does.

i personally dont care what you or anyone else wants to watch. its like soap operas. some people like and hate others. each to their own. Let the market govern what people watch or listen too. I aint into censoring what others want to watch.

15. Nobody's talking about censorship.
Edited on Fri Jan-28-05 09:18 PM by antigone382
I'm talking about a media that actively distorts and misrepresents the truth, while claiming to be unbiased, for two reasons:

1. economic interest

2. ratings.

I don't want to stop anyone from watching what they want to watch, or hide the truth from anybody. But Fox News doesn't tell the truth, at least not in a "fair and balanced" way. If Fox News would openly admit to being biased, I wouldn't really care what they did or who watched them. The liberal radio station, Air America, openly admits to being liberal. Why don't conservative media outlets openly admit their own bias? What harm can be done in telling the truth, unless they have something to hide?

Edited for grammar.

16. You need a new bird...

Cards Brush Up Bird

Associated Press, TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona Cardinals have given their old bird a makeover.

The Cardinal head that has served as the team's logo since 1960 -- when the franchise moved from Chicago to St. Louis -- has been subtly transformed into a sleeker, meaner creature. The updated version was unveiled with great fanfare at Cardinals headquarters on Thursday.

"A tough bird," team owner Bill Bidwill said. "Hopefully it will be worn by tougher and faster and meaner players."

Yet to come is what Cardinals vice president Michael Bidwill called "a revolutionary" change in the team's uniforms, to be shown this spring.

The old Cardinal logo was a roundhead bird derisively referred to as a "parakeet." The new version has decidedly more evil eyes and a menacing expression.

24. No such thing as an Arizona cardinal
Arizona doesn't have red cardinals. They have pyrrhuloxia, which, if I remember correctly, is a grayish cardinal. I guess the Arizona Pyrrhuloxias wouldn't have a real sporty ring to it.

27. The Team's Name Really Isn't About The Bird Anyway
The Chicago Cardinals were on of the charter members of the NFL...older than the Bears and Packers. The Cardinal is a combination of the red "uniforms" the players wore (gotta love those leather helmets) and that they were able to practice free at a place called Cardinal Park.

Believe it or not, there's still a Chicago Cardinal's fan club.

Gotta love those crazy Bidwells. LOL

14. One Sided Biased Joke........

What a biased one sided joke of a segment this was, O'Reilly played a clip of Al Franken crying and then he had two conservatives on from Canada on to discuss the show.

It was a three way Republican slamfest, not one person to give the balance.

They sat there and trashed the CBC for about 4 minutes, the whole thing was a joke. They never denied anything in the story was untrue, all they did was cry to each other how the liberal CBC trashed FOX.

If this is no spin and fair and balanced I'm Elvis.

22. Faux News = Pravda
Fox is no more than an extension of the Bush regime. It's 95% neocons with 5% liberals expressing a view. The best thing the democrats could do would be to boycott Faux.
