CSPAN Caller: "U.S. almost lost WWII during Battle of the Bulge"
LOL...I could not believe the history revising that took place today. One person made that statement above, and I have to say, that I do not know of one historian that would agree. Sure it may have delayed the conclusion of the war, and it was a deadly surprise to the Allied forces, but there was no way it would have changed what was inevitable, Germany was going to lose the war. Even German military officials say that they wanted to use those forces to delay the Russians in the East, not squander them in a vain hope for one of Hitler's miracles. Indeed, Hitler's goals were to capture the port at Antwerp, divide the Allied forces, and try to delay the capture of the industrial base in the Ruhr, which would rob him of his heavy weapons, so even that monster saw the writing on the wall!
Then some other idiot compared the U.S. troops in Iraq, to the National Guard in Selma, Alabama, completely ignoring that fact that those were U.S. troops defending the right of U.S. citizens to vote in...yep, thats right...the U.S! Such fucking idiots!

2. It's fair game
If you think it was the US that single-handedly won WWII, then it's only fair to assume that the war was ours to lose as well.

I know his kind of revisionist freeper scum. Probably jacks off to his dog-eared copy of a Stephen Ambrose historical dramatization every night.

3. Moran's to a fault....
Within 16 hours of the attack, Eisenhower stated that he considered the German offensive as an opportunity for the Allies.

During the same staff meeting, Patton said that SHAEF should allow the German's to advance all the way to Paris (not sure if he realized it was Antwerp and not Paris the German's were after) and close the trap only then, cutting off not only the head of the offensive, but the body, legs and tail as well.

(Paraphrased from Stephen Ambrose's, "Citizen Soldier")

The caller most likely believes that the Americans declared war on Germany first and that the Russian's would have lost the war without Lend-Lease.

:eyes:

Moran's to a fault....
