Human bondage may have been outlawed, but what about....
...economic slavery?

ON THIS DAY

On Jan. 31, 1865, the House of Representatives passed a constitutional amendment to abolish slavery.

Corporations with the help of the current republican administration are stealing our benefits, plundering social security, busting organized labor, cutting hours, out-sourcing jobs to overseas countries, stealing vacation time stealing overtime pay and pressuring congress to roll back minimum wage levels. We have a new slave system in America which makes everyone an economic slave to big corporations and huge financial institutions.

1. true - indeed in the 60's folks in the south wrote slaves better off than
current economic slavery by corporations and the courts.
