8. Yeah, that's what I was thinking too
It was hard to tell the Kerry/Edwards signs from the Bush/Cheney signs. Signs made by committees based on focus groups. Very boring.

13. You got that right!!!!
Both are brutal. As a graphic designer, both represent a variety of instances of design "DON'T's!" in attracting the eye. The names (Gore/Kerry) are waaaaaayyyy too small, you have to be within inches to even read them.

Design at its worst, what were they thinking?

21. My five minute MS Paint...
...version of how I think the Gore sign could have been better. That's right, just 5 minutes on crappy MS Paint. No wimpy little star. It has to be bold and it needs to grab the eye.

2. Kerry by a landslide!
Including the flag in your logo is very important!

14. LOL! That's exactly the first thing I thought!
Otherwise, it's the better of the two logos by far.

6. I always liked the motion or fluidity of the red curve
with the star on the end of Gore's logo as it implied a fluid and constant motion to be the best. This reflected Gore's personality.

Kerry's had too many right angles, which, unfortunately, also reflected Kerry's personality.

7. I liked the pre-edwards logo

I wish they would have kept that flag instead of the clip art one.

10. Yes!
I liked that flag much better! On the other one it really does look like they just slapped a clip art flag on there "'Cuz ya gotta have the flag!!".

9. Kerrys...because it doesn't have the word "Lieberman"
Also liked Kerrys use of the whole flag (unlike bushco's abbreviated flag which made me uneasy).

Gore's had better colors, but remided me to much of star trek.

11. The Answer Is...
They are both awful. Sure, we can't blame our loss on a sign. But in tight elections, every little bit counts!

15. As a graphic designer, I would probably suggest something like Gore's over

Kerry's to a client. Kerry's logo - well, there's a test I use when I look at campaign signs. My best friend - who knows really nothing about computers or graphics - SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO name the font on them. But sure enough, she knew it was Georgia, in bold. Pretty pathetic on the part of the Kerry-Edwards campaign.

I liked the John Kerry logo, and I loved Dean's. Edwards, Kucinich, not so much. Clark's was a little empty, but I still liked it quite a bit.

Bush's was fabulous. Democrats say, oh, well, he only had the top half of the flag, you know, for the top half of the country. We're the only ones that even noticed that. If you put our logo up against theirs, ours looked shoddy and weak.

I'm just going to stop rambling on about campaign logos now. ;)

19. they should have probably kept the Kerry Primary logo
but just added Edwards' name to it rather than change it entirely.

17. Neither.
From a design standpoint:

Both typefaces aren't indicative of confidence and strength, there are far too many holes in both designs (which are distracting) and little sense of heirarchy and alignment.
Frankly, I'm surprised they couldn't find something better.

Anyway, that didn't stop me from plastering my personal property with them.

22. Well, I'm no graphic arts expert
and have no insightful knowledge of logos. Just my impression - I like the Kerry-Edwards one better. I do have to say - something that has always been one of my pet peeves has always been memos or e-mail that were written in all caps - the Bush/Cheney signs were just irritating. It is very likely b/c I am so anti-*. But, it is also b/c they were all caps - it seems so confrontational, lazy and rude. DOESN'T A RESPONSE IN ALL CAPS SEEM TO BE CALLING UP A CONFRONTATION?

Maybe that was part of Rove's strategy?

25. A political logo needs to be read in a couple of seconds.
All caps is rude in personal communication but it works with yardsigns and bumperstickers.

23. I think they both sucked
The swoop and the star on Gore's looks hokey and reminds me of a Social program logo.

The Kerry-Edwards font was AWFUL! They also compacted everything into one little box. There was no negative space.

I HATED the original Kerry GREEN or whatever that color is. yuck But I do prefer the space and the flag logo of that one. They should have just changed the colors on that and added Edwards for the final one.

I prefer a flag logo opposed to a realistic looking flag for signs but not as abstract as the arch and star of Gore's.

26. Barbara Boxer's signs tend to be yellow with --
-- black lettering.

The 'X' in her name is drawn as a ballot box.

Basic but sturdy and visible.

I'd like to see no reference to the American flag on ANYTHING for the rest of my life, please.

And although I like blue just fine, maybe we could go with some other colors?

27. Kerry primary
Don't have anything against Edwards, but the Bumperstickers that just said "John Kerry: President" looked the best. The Kerry/Edwards ones had way too thin of a font and way too detailed of a flag.

And that Kerry/Edwards sign isn't quite what they looked like.
