Worse than the Nazi's....
The right-wing propaganda machine operating inside the US makes the Nazi's look like rank amateurs.

Conservative kool-aid drinkers lack the capacity to self-examine any policy enacted by their political used-car salesmen known as "republicans".

All one needs to do is wave a flag in front of their faces and at that point, any and all critical thought (if it is at all possible with these knuckle-draggers) comes to a screeching halt. Exhibit A: the pre-invasion pressuring of intel analysis, the post-invasion purging of CIA analysts who called it right on Iraq.

The failure that IS Iraq today was predicted before the invasion began, yet ignored. The planning of post-invasion Iraq was researched and written out, yet ignored.

The Neo-con Fascist Agenda took precedence over common sense and when failure inevitably occurred, desperate attempts at slapping a smiley face on any conceivable positive event became the order of the day to justify ignorant arrogance in the name of spreading "democracy".

How do you reward ineptness? Why by giving a promotion, of course.

George Tenet's "slam dunk" became a Presidential Medal of Freedom. Tommy Frank's rapid invasion, going in "light" and then turning Baghdad into a Rodney King/South Central L.A. free-for-all, earned him the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Paul Bremer's disbanding of the Iraqi Army and unaccounted 9 Billion dollars earned him the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

How do you promote the "catastrophic success" of the Iraq invasion?

By escalating the failure to the greater Middle East.

War is good for business. Invest your kids.

1. Many fear the Nazi analogies.....
I don't fear history....I learn from it.
Yes there are a number of significant parallels.

One of the primary components of all of this is the promotion of fear.

Fear that others will somehow affect your freedom.
Fear that unless YOU do something, you won't be able to realize your true potential.

The other significant component is hate.

Hate can be used to distract people from what is really important.
Hate can be used to make people accept things which are otherwise unspeakable.

You are right.....the present administration is using some of the most insidious lessons learned from the history books about how to manipulate the public and combining it with the most arrogant, irresponsible use of military force that this country has ever experienced.

This is the most despicable administration this country has ever had. However, we don't yet have an Auschwitz.

In no way will I ever defend the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfield regime. Yet, Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib and the many other places that we don't yet know about, don't equal what Hitler and his henchmen did.

This is not to say that this administration is incapable of reaching the depths of depravity reached by the Nazis.

However, (even though I may be a moron who doesn't think they'd sink into the hell the Nazis created), I'm still willing to give them a very small benefit of the doubt. (And perhaps this makes me a moron.)

3. They are fascists. Plain and simple.
They are worse than the Nazi's in the way they have divided our country and threw into the dungheep the good will of the world after 9/11.

At what point does it not become over-the-top? By using Hitler's "final solution" you have set a standard that not many fascist despots have reached.

would do it. Things are going their way anyway.

26. we don't yet have an Auschwitz
But we do have a Gitmo and an Abu Ghrab. We also have secret CIA flights to take people out of the country so they can be tortured by other governments on other shores, thus allowing us to wash our hands of it legaly.

You are right, no "Auschwitz" yet, but when it does come to it, don't be suprised if this group of murderers outsources it.

Let's not wait for that to happen.

We know they have secret facilities. We know they do not refrain from imprisoning children. We know there are "secret" flights to God knows where with "detained" people.

I am not convinced that we do or do not have "death" camps. The "secret" facilities are not on US soil for a reason. Who would know that someone disappeared and was never heard from again? The Government while not denying these facilities does not admit them either.

4. No regime has ever been as roundly evil as the Nazis.
Not even close. The Nazis were corrupt, murderous, and generally malicious on scales never seen before or since. They are directly responsible for the deaths of some fifty million Europeans and the displacement of tens of millions more. All of our bad presidents put together don't even hold a candle to the Nazi regime.

the ideology is the same.

Fascism.

Pre-WW II Fascist Germany was seen by Corporate America as a check against Soviet Communism, and so they invested in Nazi Germany.

Responsible for the deaths of 50 Million? Yes. Directly responsible? No.

Who helped them create an ideology of racial superiority?

Who continues their work today?

The name Bush comes up a lot in these discussions for a reason.

In my mind, Nazi ideology needs to have that evil component of - eugenics. That's when the real terror starts. :scared:

I do think a very compelling argument can be made that our constitutional democracy exists in name only. Of particular offense to me is that these bastards have dressed it all up in Christianity. All around, a pretty shitty state of affairs.

Facism.Gay hatred comes out of right wing politicians mouths all the times now. They've just replaced the word jew with homosexual. In the beginning the jews had full rights in nazi germany, and then were targeted more and more.

The only good thing here is that the bush administration is stupider than the nazis. They may not be able to pull off a finanal solution. Unfortunatley since they are stupider though, it also means a lot of people are likley to get killed in a nuclear war.

it doesn't approach the state sanctioned anti-Semitic evil of the Nazis (yet). Could it happen again with GLBT people? I think it's possible but only under some very precise circumstances.

13. They use the Nazi playbook.
The Bushies sure studied the Nazi book on how to get elected.
Yes there aren't any death camps, but that's the only difference.

Don't ever forget that the Nazi's were democratically elected. How?

Gradually.

Enlist the aid of the churches
Target the messages for the audience
Get people excited about changes.
Lie, lie,lie
Tell everyone how horrible the opposition is
Call them communists
Lie
Find a commom enemy. (gays, in Bushes case. communists in the Nazi case) It helped them get elected. Only later, after they got in power did the enemy list grow.)

And when they receive the majority, make sure that the opposition knows that it has no say in anything.
Keep demonizing the opposition (Until they give up)

Then, start taking away the little things like welfare and unemployment.

Lie, lie lie

Then start taking away freedoms and liberties.

The death camps didn't happen overnight and the Nazi's didn't take power overnight.

It's not the Nazi death camps that we are comparing Shrub to, it is the methods, they used to get and keep power that is so similar.

27. Thom Hartmann thinks you should read this.

<snip>

To get his patriotic "Decree on the Protection of People and State" passed over the objections of concerned legislators and civil libertarians, he agreed to put a 4-year sunset provision on it: if the national emergency provoked by the terrorist attack was over by then, the freedoms and rights would be returned to the people, and the police agencies would be re-restrained. Legislators would later say they hadn't had time to read the bill before voting on it.

Immediately after passage of the anti-terrorism act, his federal police agencies stepped up their program of arresting suspicious persons and holding them without access to lawyers or courts. In the first year only a few hundred were interred, and those who objected were largely ignored by the mainstream press, which was afraid to offend and thus lose access to a leader with such high popularity ratings. Citizens who protested the leader in public - and there were many - quickly found themselves confronting the newly empowered police's batons, gas, and jail cells, or fenced off in protest zones safely out of earshot of the leader's public speeches. (In the meantime, he was taking almost daily lessons in public speaking, learning to control his tonality, gestures, and facial expressions. He became a very competent orator.)

Within the first months after that terrorist attack, at the suggestion of a political advisor, he brought a formerly obscure word into common usage. He wanted to stir a "racial pride" among his countrymen, so, instead of referring to the nation by its name, he began to refer to it as "The Homeland," a phrase publicly promoted in the introduction to a 1934 speech recorded in Leni Riefenstahl's famous propaganda movie "Triumph Of The Will." As hoped, people's hearts swelled with pride, and the beginning of an us-versus-them mentality was sewn. Our land was "the" homeland, citizens thought: all others were simply foreign lands. We are the "true people," he suggested, the only ones worthy of our nation's concern; if bombs fall on others, or human rights are violated in other nations and it makes our lives better, it's of little concern to us.

<snip>

His propaganda minister orchestrated a campaign to ensure the people that he was a deeply religious man and that his motivations were rooted in Christianity. He even proclaimed the need for a revival of the Christian faith across his nation, what he called a "New Christianity." Every man in his rapidly growing army wore a belt buckle that declared "Gott Mit Uns" - God Is With Us - and most of them fervently believed it was true.

You really should read the rest

30. The NAZIs lost the battle...
So, the Fuehrer and the Homeland were destroyed? The Reich lives on in the form of the world's prinicpalities and elites, using the nuclear arms and misguided minds of the industrialized world, from the Mafia to the KKK to Wall Street. Their knights are the Bush Family Evil Empire. And they work to win the war for fascism.

Nazis in the attic, part 6

By Randy Davis

GEORGE HERBERT WALKER BUSH

...Like Nixon, George Bush was deeply involved with supporting the Nazis in the Republican's closet. In fact, support for the Nazis was a Bush family tradition which goes back more than six decades and, once again, to Allen Dulles.

Loftus and Aarons write: "The real story of George Bush starts well before he launched his own career. It goes back to the 1920s, when the Dulles brothers and the other pirates of Wall Street were making their deals with the Nazis. . . ."

THE BUSH-DULLES-NAZI CONNECTION

"George Bush's problems were inherited from his namesake and maternal grandfather, George Herbert 'Bert' Walker, a native of St. Louis, who founded the banking and investment firm of G. H. Walker and Company in 1900. Later the company shifted from St. Louis to the prestigious address of 1 Wall Street. . . .

"Walker was one of Hitler's most powerful financial supporters in the United States. The relationship went all the way back to 1924, when Fritz Thyssen, the German industrialist, was financing Hitler's infant Nazi party. As mentioned in earlier chapters, there were American contributors as well.

31. Recently, I have been racking my brain...
trying to understand why more people aren't up in arms or appalled at what is happening here. Granted the whores in the stenocorps don't do news but still these guys are soooo arrogant that all of their plans are somewhere on the internet. They don't even bother to do this stuff in secret, they tell people exactly what they are doing. Read the plans at PNAC and then think of the last few years and what has come to pass. Listen to the documentary at theocracy watch and then think about the rise of the talibornagains and what is happening.

And then it hit me, when I first heard of the PNAC, I thought it was the craziest thing I had ever heard. Why would they put it out there on the internet for anyone to see? Why would they advertise all of their plans and tell people that they are destroying, whatever it is today? It made no sense to me. I couldn't wrap my head around it; it just seemed too arrogant & crazy, it had to be some kind of joke. If you believe this shit, you are part of the tinfoil hat brigade.

EXACTLY, they are counting on the fact that when people hear this stuff, their first inclination is to say, "that is way too crazy, it can't possibly be true" and if you are the one who told them, they won't listen to you again. When people think it's too crazy, they don't really look at what's happening and will try to rationalize what they know to be true so they don't have to think that the world has gotten that bad. That their country has been taken over by fascists and that those fascists are in the process of raping and pillaging the country, sending young people off to die so that they can line their pockets with gold and move on to the next step in the plan. More raping and pillaging. More consolidation of power for them and less of anything for the people. Those who comprise the "rabble" do not matter except in their usefulness as slaves.

32. THIS is one of the most patently useful Posts I have ever seen on this
Site, so much so I copied and pasted it for future reference and examples to give to people who might be sitting on the fence.

This is EXACTLY the core of their reasoning, and why it works.

The reason they are so brazen and in your face about everything, is because of the line of thinking you just described.

And that's why it has been so effective.

I'm not sure what I could add to this.

But it is a picture perfect illustration of why their methods have been so effective on the level they have.

The problem is I also feel a sad kinship with you, because now we must live with the consequences and pain of sight.

Those who are blind are blissfuly unaware, but the few of us who see have to live in this everyday. It is hard to keep one's sanity and hope alive.

37. Thanks Watcher, it's nice to see
that people don't think I'm crazy. There are so many days when I see the psychotic behavior of what passes for govt today & think I must be nuts for seeing the problem but no one is talking about it so it must not really exist.

One of the things that got me stated thinking about this was an email from my brother. I had sent him a link to a discussion here with some very good info on the election fraud & his response was that both sides must be crazy & over the top. He's a fairly bright fellow who usually sees past the surface and that response made me wonder if I was the crazy one.

I understand that when I'm talking to most people "out in the real world" they are hampered by a lack of knowledge based on their reliance on MSM. This week has been great in that I can mention the fact that MSM is talking about Michael Jackson instead of the $9.9 B that disappeared in Iraqnam. When they ask where I heard about this I mention that the European press is covering the story along with several other things that are "real" news not the manufactured pap that passes for news here. Uh oh, I just realized I've started rambling....

I guess what I wanted to say was thanks for the positive response. Recently, I have hesitated to post because I have felt that I was the crazy one rather than that the world is crazy.

34. Great Post-Very Well Said! Denial happens when people just aren't willing
to face the truth because it's too painful or too frightening.

However, the writing IS on the wall. We are NOW living in a dangerous, fascist run country. We must all recognize the parallels with Nazi Germany or we are surely doomed by our own denial and ignorance.

36. What J Edgar Hoover said about the commies applies to NAZIs...
"The individual is handicapped by coming face-to-face with a conspiracy so monstrous he cannot believe it exists." -- J. Edgar Hoover

The human brain can only take so much unbelievable info at one time. When discovering that almost everything one has heard, assumed and was told about Smirko and his Poppy is wrong, it's easier for many to just shrug their shoulders. You have no idea how happy I am to see that so many on DU give a damn.

PS: Thanks for a great post and thread! Good for reading and sharing.
