It may have been staged to get the light that way, but I see no reason to believe it's been altered.

Now what we REALLY need is for some Photoshop wizard to add a closeup of the pad so we can see what he's doodling. Maybe fark.com will have a contest for that, if we're lucky...

...I can tell you that a close-up under unflattering light can bring out the worst in anybody.

This obviously isn't a close-up and the light minimizes facial details.

I just don't see where your claim of alteration comes from. Since he's sitting in front of a window and the light/shadows don't seem to be out of place, the CLAIM seems silly.

When I said staged/airbrushed, I meant an either/or kind of thing. I am not 'claiming' anything. I think it looks artificial, whether through technology or design. If the President has nothing better to do than pose for set-up elaborate Hallmark card photoshoots, so be it.

Notice the quality of the 'professional photography' reflects the quality the resident of the white house applies to the office of president. I guess the full time photographer doesn't have a UV polarizing filter in his bag.

Puhleeze! In the 12/21/04 edition of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the headline was "Bush says Iraqi vote on course." The picture they chose to accompany the article was the "halo" picture of the little rat-bastard. Here's the text, under the picture: "During a year-end news conference on Monday, President Bush expresses disappointment with the performance of Iraqi troops battling insurgents."
