My household is now officially a Nielson TV home!!!!
Be very afraid FAUX News, Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity.....

Everyone here will be watching The Daily Show, Olbermann, Nightline, NOW, Frontline, 60 Minutes, Jack and Bobby from now on.

Please let me know of any other good shows that I might want to watch.

Also, never watch Faux, or for that matter, any cable news program. Stick to PBS, 60 Minutes etc.

17. They picked me randomly.....
Interestingly, they actually asked me if I watched news programs - which of course, I do. I told them that I don't watch the "usual" stuff - which they seemed to like.

30. Are You On A People Meter Or Diary?
Not sure if this question is supposed to be asked...rating services are soooo touchy. LOL.

If it's the meter, make sure you keep your TV on the channel you want them to know you're watching for a minimum of 15 minutes...that's considered "viewing" the show rather than surfing past.

My bets are you were "found" on a list someone sold Neilsen...the were looking for someone around your age and other "profiles" (income, race, sex, etc) in your area.

It should be a fun time...just think of how many people's careers and livelihoods are riding on your whims and desires. Enjoy your month of being "Lord Of The Tube"...LOL.

34. Metered people are sworn to secrecy.
They aren't supposed to tell anyone they are a Nielsen family for about a year after they stop being a Nielsen family. They don't want anyone influencing their viewing habits.

Too many war stories here to go into, but yes, Nielsen families aren't supposed to say they're taking part in a survey...but then I hope they're not monitoring IP addresses via DU to find out someone's attempting to tamper with their sample. But I could be wrong.

Arb only asked participating families not to disclose they were participating while the survey period was place.

Also, I was told that not all meters are being monitored all the time...as to avoid someone stacking the deck, per se.. They may have 3,000 boxes out there reporting in, but only are sampling 300 of them at any one given period.

How do you get to be a Nielsen household? Is is some type of lottery? You need to watch Democracy Now. If your cable provider does not carry it, harass em till they do!
