Well now ain't that funny; bush now says SS isn't a "crisis"...he just has
a "better deal".

rotflmao!!!

So do I; any rightwingnut wanna buy an almost-new barely used bridge?

In a significant shift in his rationale for the accounts, Bush dropped his claim that they would help solve Social Security's fiscal problems -- a link he sometimes made during last year's presidential campaign. Instead, he said the individual accounts were desirable because they would be "a better deal," providing workers what he said would be a higher rate of return and "greater security in retirement."

A Bush aide, briefing reporters on the condition of anonymity, was more explicit, saying that the individual accounts would do nothing to solve the system's long-term financial problems.

That candid analysis, although widely shared by economists, distressed some Republicans.

"Oh, my God," one GOP political strategist said when he learned of the shift in rhetoric. "The White House has made a lot of Republicans walk the plank on this. Now it sounds as if they are sawing off the board."

bush voters seem to be able to wrap their minds around any twists and turns his dictates make, though.

2. What's worse is that people will buy it hook, line and sinker.
Count on the Media Whores to assist in selling it to the public.

6. He NEVER said it was a "crisis"
Just like he NEVER said there were weapons in Iraq ...

Just like he NEVER said Saddam posed an imminent threat ...

Just like he NEVER said he knew Ken Lay ...

You should stop listening to the liberal media.

7. SSI Lie #1043...
Try this one...

Figure out the amount of money you made when you began working. Say, if you started working, like I did, in the late 70's, my first year pay was somewhere around $8,000...of which let's guestimate $800 was set aside for SSI...$800 that the government has been holding onto (or used to until Bunnypants raided the "lock box), and I won't be able to get for another 16 years or more.

Now in 2021, what do you think the average starting salary for a 21 yaer old kid coming out of college will be? Think it'll be 8k a year, 16k, 24k? Sure, he/she will have a chunk taken out...far more than I did...but of that amount put in, I'll be only getting $800...and so on.

Bottom line is the system was designed from the outset to ride generational inflation...where the next generation would be earning more than the previous one, thus the amount in the fund would remain strong. Even with the baby boomer "notch", the amount us boomer have contributed will be far outstripped by the earnings of those contributing when I will be collecting...just as much as the money I made went to my parents and was more than they earned/contributed.

Part of me says let SSI rot...if the 25-40 year olds who voted for this regime think low taxes and gambling away their savings is fine...they should knock themselves out.

9. And Which Planet Was This On?
I know plenty of 25-40 year olds who drink the kool aid. Not all, plenty of good eggs out there...I'm refering to the Rushbo listener...too young to remember Nam and growing up in a very self-indulgant and myopic world. They deserve to crash & burn with their puppetmasters.
