I figured out what the biggest problem is with todays MSM.
It's not liberal bias, duh. It's not even conservative bias, although that is an issue. It's much scarier than that.
As I was watching last night TDS show clips of media response to bush Wednesday night I realized the biggest problem with the media is that they don't report what happened any more they report how we should feel about what happened. When they report in this manner they are telling anyone who does not feel that way they are wrong, stupid, misinformed or all of the above.
Didn't the media use to just report the news?

1. Good insight!
The "news" just isn't news any more.

2. Reporting facts is "Hard Work"
With a few exceptions, Journalists are basically lazy and like to pontificate. So much news is basically "analysis" which is a code word for propaganda.

I try to read facts and exclude speculation and analysis, but it's a hard task.

3. Williams summed it up well
Well, not that well actually. First, he said he was a journalist then when the heat was on he slipped into "opinionist" instead.

They all think they are paid to give their opinion of the news not to give you the facts of the actual actions.

They aren't "responsible" because it was their opinion and we all know the saying about opinions and anatomy.

Editorials on the news used to come with a disclaimer that they were editorials. Now the news is largely nothing more than editorials, strung together by expensive commercials for things you do need but have to have because they seems so "cool".

Sad state of affairs, I my opinion.

4. They use to tell us the facts and let us react.
Now they give us just a few facts that they think will produce the biggest reaction (and subsequently higher viewership), and then tell us how we ought to react.

5. the problem is business
without an audience the msm outlets dissappear. they are more interested in selling copies and keeping viewers. the "news" has become another form of entertainment, a simple product for mass consumption. no need for integrity, just push product.
