Wouldn't that be special, 200,000,000,000.00 and the wrong (not our handpicked guys) win. Another war? Another vote? Will we install a theocracy in Iraq to match the one in Iran????

2. You aren't suggesting that there is the slightest chance that
the elections are honest are you? Now that would be a wild leap of faith.

3. Turn to Chalabi
My understanding is he is part of the coalition of Shiites that is in the majority and he will likely have a place in the government.

If I recall at the time of Chalabi's downfall someone somewhere, and I am pretty sure it was here on DU, stated that Chalabi would be back, that the hubub about him at the time was just to build his credibility amongst Shiites hostile to the US occupation.

Problem is I don't know if Chalabi really care about US interests in Iraq. He seems to have his own agenda which really just involves him being in the power structure in Iraq.

Allawi and Chalabi in some ways seem to be like Saddam-lite - corrupt and brutal but not as many brutalities as Saddam had so more palatable to us as long as they stay in line.

6. Alawi Has Alway Been A Strawman
Chalabi's still PNAC's man in Iraq. Alwai was there as a prop...a DOD puppet to pretend there was an Iraqi face to the American invasion. Soon his usefullness will be up...and I still expect, as I always have, Chalabi will emerge as the real power in the country; funneling billions in war profiteering and embezelment (which he does so well) to his GOOP benefactors.

5. I have found myself with my fingers crossed for Sistani
But, there is still plenty of time for Allawi to steal some votes.

8. They've said it doesn't matter.
I think what they would be upset with isn't having the Unified slate win, but having the Unified slate win and then make a constitution such that the Unified slate would always "win" in the future.

Shi'a religious guys win, fine. Shi'a guys win in a one person one vote one time, I think they'd spazz.

9. First of all, the election was rigged
So it doesn't really matter...the whole thing has been planned well in advance; those in power will get lots of goodies to do our bidding and allow us to hang around as long as we want.

Oh yea - heard Chalabi will more than likely end up Prime Minister (NPR). How much was Bushco paying him a month before he "fell from grace"? :eyes:
