Glenn Research center to loose 700 jobs
Last night on the news the reporter was amazed that the state that put bu$h over the top in the election is one of the first to feel his cuts in the budget.

By JOE MILICIA, Associated Press Writer Action 19 News - Cleveland:
CLEVELAND (AP) - The NASA Glenn Research Center will eliminate 700 of its 1,900 jobs by the end of 2006 as the space agency cuts back on aeronautics research, the center's director said Monday.

NASA Glenn's budget will be cut from $640 million in fiscal year 2005 to $520 million in fiscal year 2006, under Bush's plan.

Just a year ago, Earls said he was hopeful that Bush's exploration goals would help secure the Ohio center's future by giving it an opportunity to play an integral role in sending astronauts back to the moon and Mars.

In February 2004, Bush outlined a multibillion-dollar effort to return Americans to the moon as early as 2015 and use it as a waystation to Mars and beyond. He called for development of a new vehicle carrying astronauts to the space station and the moon.
