I wouldn't be making a big deal if he qualified his denouncement of gay marriage by saying something positive or supportive of civil unions.

But he didn't.

And he further added salt to the wound by saying that marriage was between a man and a woman with the PRIMARY GOAL OF RAISING A CHILD---strange, that, because I didn't marry my husband so that we could have a child. In fact, we're not going to have children.

So, according to Graham, because the PRIMARY GOAL of marriage is to raise and nurture a child, then my marriage is moot and should be invalidated because we're not living up to our primary goal of marriage.

He's also forgetting the LARGE number of homosexual couples that successfully raise very healthy, happy, and nurtured children...

that the 'marriage' angle is bogus. gay people (and I'm one of them) don't expect EVERY denomination to sanction the unions of gay couples.

and we don't really care. PLENTY will.

the issue is and has always, only been. parity in couple's rights. respect for the legitimacy of gay couples.

Social equality will come slowly, not all at once. To press for everything at once is to risk losing all we've gained. And he essentially supported legal equality...Where's the big problem?

Plus any candidate endorsing gay marriage in America today would instantly doom themselves to around 38% of the vote, nationally.
