;)

I would gladly vote for Joe over * any day.

Let's also remember Paul Wellstone voted for Gore/Lieberman, and he was a true 'progressive'.

I am a firm Dean supporter, but I refuse to sell short the differences between JL and GW, you?

There were many others who did well this evening, but I think b/c JL is so 'hated' here, I'd like to discuss.

3. sarcasm noted, but this was Joe's best performance so far
He's still my least favorite, but I actually applauded him a couple of times.

I will vote for him if he is nominated.

But until then, I'm a Kucinich supporter all the way!

28. Sharpton has really impresed me this whole campaign
I was expecting some stereotypical black activist, but he is a committed progressive and a fabulous orator.

I'm still a Kucinich guy, but Dean, Braun, Edwards, Graham and Kerry are all making this a tough choice. So many good Democrats to choose from--finally!--after all these years.

8. Yes it was
I even started a post about Lieberman sounding like a Democrat tonight.

Face it, it's finally dawned on him that Bushlite isn't working and he better change his tune. I'm not buying it.

12. not me...
If Lieberman is the nom (which won't happen), I abstain.

(And before anyone gets on my case, I live in a safe state for Bush*, so call me a bad person if you must, but my not voting for someone that I loathe will have no impact on the outcome, and I won't have to feel dirty for it.)

6. Joe Lieberman
He came out strong for civil rights. Let's remember that any Democrat is better than the current occupant of the White House.
The most discouraging thing i heard was that 69% of Americans support the Patriot Act. I don't know why that is.

16. 69%
haven't read it, or don't have a legal education or access to a place like DU where it's discussed without The Battle Hymn of the Republic playing in the background.

If people REALLY knew what it allowed the gov't to do ... they'd be shittin' in their knickers.

32. It's because those evil bastards knew just what they were
doing when they wrapped it in a flag and called it the PATRIOT act. To top it off they blather on about it "helping local police do their jobs and keeping our firefighters and emergency responders safe" and other such platitudes.

Oh, you don't like the PATRIOT act? You must want policemen to get killed and terrorists to blow up retirement homes and daycare centers!

That's why they're in favor of it. It was sold to them by aoltimewarnerabccbsnbcdisney.

18. Joe is booed b/c people don't care for his
position on the Iraq war, nor for his saying "Bush did the right thing ect..." I have had my moments of wanting to 'slap' Joe but he is a far cry from a Republican.

But this discussion is completely academic. DINO Joe won't win the Dem nomination.

20. Lieberman is a truly despicable character
I don't give a fuck what political party follows his name. He represents the worst elements of our political system; bias, ignorance, religious-in a bad way- unwilling to challenge the status quo. I detest him.

Let's also remember Paul Wellstone voted for Gore/Lieberman, and he was a true 'progressive'.

Wellstone voted for Gore/Lieberman because that was the Democratic Party ticket and Wellstone was a DEMOCRAT! Of COURSE he'd vote for his party's nominees! He'd never betray his party!

I just hope and pray that Lieberman ISN'T the Dem nominee. AFAIC, that would spell the utter demise of the Democratic Party.

Lieberman himself aligned his beliefs w/ Bush's
Last winter around the time he declared !

He said something to the effect that he and Bush 'stood no more than an inch apart' on most policy issues, and that because he had worked so closely with Bush, he was the one candidate to beat him.

:wtf: Ok, he's essentially said he's 'just like Bush' - tonight he comes out and bashes the very policies and 'move to the right' that he defended less than 2 months ago (search archives: "Lieberman Declares a Dem move to the left will mean Defeat")

Why doesn't that thought process compute for me ??

26. Doesn't Matter
Joe has baggage from the last election or appointment if you will, just being shackled to Gore( whom I greatly admire) is enough to doom him alone. I doubt people want any ties to the past selection. Joe also comes off with really quetionable remarks at times that make you wonder which the hell side he is on?
So...................Let Joe go!

And lets focus on a new face with a message and hopefully a backbone and support that individual. And we better do it and fast.

And he's far from my first choice, but to quote Paul Wellstone;

"The differences make a difference in the lives of ordinary Americans."

Joe Lieberman is NO George Bush...regardless of his wimpy positions on a few of the issues.

Of course it was Gore who chose JL as his running mate.
It showed how topsy turvey his administration would have been, had he really taken office.
