Two quick questions about the debate

1) Who were those disruptors? Did anyone hear what they were carrying on about? (My view: totally uncool) It was quite unfortunate that they disrupted Bob Graham -- while he was in the middle of saying he KNEW Bush DELIBERATELY mislead the American people, because he is on the intelligence committee. That's a very big deal....

2) What the hell was Howard Dean's favorite song? I didn't catch that at all

is "Jaspora" by Wyclef Jean. I thought it was a bit of pandering for Dean to name it. I betcha he can't sing it. Here are the lyrics -

Really cleared it up for me.

I think the fifth word in the 61st line is voy'ow, though, instead of voyo'w.


What language is that?

it's a creole. Probably Jamaican.

The song is from the album "Carnival" which is essentially a tribute to the Carribean's Carnival celebration (like Mardi Gras in New Orleans). Dean's state might be mostly white, but that doesn't mean he can't relate to a very diverse group of people.

If he was pandering, he didn't do a very good job at it.

It looks like a Creole language to me - probably from Jamaica.

Slick, slick move and my hat is off to Dean for being able to spit that one out.

I don't have a horse in this race, but Dean knows how to play to the audience without pandering. That can go a real long way.

Jaspora is Creole for Diaspora... All the names in it are typical Haitian names. It's a very beautiful song. Wyclef Jean is very hip among young Blacks. Smooth move Dr. Dean for the young Black vote... gotta hand it to him. Excellent musical taste

The son of a minister, Wyclef "Clef" Jean was born in Haiti but moved to New York at age nine, where his relatives lived. I am afraid that I do not know this song, or the artist -- but I do recognize the language as Haitian Creole!

Where the Debates were being held I heard the announcer say that the audience was made up of 2000 invited guest. Did anyone else hear this? If the debate is rerunned listen for that to be said. It might have been said on the return from the break.
