How Arnold's gonna fix California
For you non-Californians who aren't subjected to his commercials, here's Arnold's plan for our fiscal problems. He's sitting around a table with what I presume are meant to be "ordinary citizens" and answering questions. The first one is:

Q. How're you gonna end the financial mess?

A. California is spending 29 million dollars a day more than it takes in. Now here's my plan. Day 1: audit everything. Open the books. Then we end the crazy deficit spending.

There ya have it! Audit everything. Open the books. Such a simple plan.

Except he fails to note that the books are already open, and have been audited many, many times. But other than that, it's a great plan, no?

1. Ha Ha, you beat me to this.
I don't know who produced this commercial, but what is supposed to happen when you open the books? Will dollars from heaven fly out? Will the red ink disappear when the air hits it?

This commercial makes no sense. It's fine for his action filled movies, they don't have to make sense, but Arnold really? The Governor of California is not a fantasy role.

2. I find it hysterical.
And for people who doubt me, this is a literal translation. Furthermore.. it is the ENTIRE plan he proposes. I'm not leaving anything out.

sigh....

NO ON RECALL! YES ON BUSTAMANTE!

9. What surprises me...
is the lack of attention on this commercial. To me, it perfectly exemplifies what's wrong with Arnold.

I would LOVE to see the late-night hosts start making fun of it.

10. Leno won't.
Letterman is in NY and wouldn't see nor would Jon Stewart. Although Jon would be the guy to do it. I wonder if there is any way to get a copy to him.

12. C'mon Dookus, let's put some lipstick on this pig!!
Oh I tell ya, I am watching this clusterfuck from Iowa and it does worry me that people here and around the country don’t understand how it affects the rest of the country. For one it’s just it’s just plain and simply another testimony to Republican determination to overturn an election. The plans for this recall were in the works immediately after they failed to win the 2002 election.

They did it with the Clinton impeachment; they did it in the 2002 Florida Presidential election, they are doing it with Texas redistricting. They keep winning these battles. WE NOT ONLY HAVE TO STOP ALLOWING THEM TO WIN THESE BATTLES, WE HAVE TO STOP ALLOWING THEM TO PLAY THEM!

I cannot say this enough times. What is going on in California is NOT just about California. If a Republican Governor gets elected this will affect the 2004 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION!! Not only that, if they can get away with this recall, they are going to pull this shit with every other state in the union. I am serious. Think about it! We are going to have recalls in every state in the union if a Republican doesn’t win. That is where this game is going.

This has to STOP in California. Vote NO recall, YES Bustamante. I’m counting on you.

*sigh*

Hi Dookie!

14. Hi Boobie...
I think, as long as McClintock stays in the race, that Arnie is hosed. I also think there's a 50/50 chance that Davis will survive the recall. I'm not pessimistic yet.

16. I hope so too....
but the polls I've seen show a 55% lead for the recall, but I don't think they weigh in favor of LIKELY democratic voters who are pissed off by this.

And, as I said, if McClintock can resist the bribes he's surely being offered, Bustamante will beat Schwarzenegger.

13. He thinks Wilson might have hidden a few billion dollar bills between...
...the pages and they're just going to fall out.

Forget that the books are already open to the public, and there are thousands of lobbyitst, not-for-profits, for-profit interest groups, etc, you look at everything every politician in Sacremento does under a microscope.

Yes, those commercials are stupid, and if they're going to pretend the guy has a plan, they shouldn't be running those insipid commercials.
