SOUTHERN AND WESTERN DEMS: WE WILL UNITE!!!!
NORTH, SOUTH, EAST AND WEST: Dean is coming to lead us. We must now drop the insults and divisiveness of the rethug Blue/Red state BS talking point. We will now rise up and take back our country, and fight for all of our people. Now is the time, my friends, the thugs in the White House have shown their cards, and now we will show our DEFIANCE!!!

7. nah, lets see if dean pump it up
what i liked about dean.......i found no one in texas willing to value a single thing about kerry. i did see 30'ish white jean wearin male be able to embrace and support dean. really interesting. i dont have issue with a male that can be heard by other males, in this area

i lived and grew up in calif

and now living in texas for a decade and half. lots to learn about this area. lots and lots to see the last four years

9. Repugs are NOT taking over CA
Just because ugly Ahnold got lucky, doesn't mean there is a take-over here. He gets chopped at the knees constantly by State Dems and will continue to do so. If only we had had a real choice in the recall election...sigh.

from what i feel, i think possibly, but who is to know. that will be future, but i think the opportunity is there. and i am not suggesting it become red because there are more conservative voters. i am talking you lose the power to insure a less corrupt voting system.............

key republican policy decision making positions thru out state

a take over a coup

15. Well I have to admit
that Davis was a lousy governor and the only reason he was re-elected was that the repug candidate was an even bigger loser and crook!

I do think though that Ahnold's track record up to now is not very good. He promised to balance the budget and has yet to even come close. His ideas of "special interests" to be jettisoned are NURSES, TEACHERS, and other absolutely essential people to the welfare of this state. Meanwhile, he panders to his own special interests such as car dealers in Sacramento and other corporate hogs. I predict he will be a one-term oops. I don't know of a single other California resident who approves of Mr. Ugly Steroid Boy! Even my republican NURSE sister hates him!

For the record? He did turn down a salary for the job but to date, has taken more special interest money than ANY other governor in the history of California! He's just a little Bushie wannabe and I think folks see through him!

by the people and was thrown out by a republican coup. democrats allowed because he was lousy, our voting ability and right and power is more important than his lousy. especially when we knew arnold was in the energy meeting the summer before they started fucking calif 's and davis

20. That would make sense
except that why the heck didn't the repugs run AHnold in the first place instead of the known cheat that they did run????! Why did we have to undergo a recall election in a state where money is tight?!

25. This is twice now the Republicans strategically used a Dem in trouble
Edited on Sat Feb-12-05 05:07 PM by BlueInRed
to achieve a powerful position in California and have taken pragmatic control of the power to affect voting machines, redistricting and a lot of other issues. As someone who has friends in SF that I was discussing this with while it was happening, it worries me that Californians didn't recognize the true goals here. My concern is that there is a complacency there that is leading to underestimating what Arnold and his appointees can do to change things.

IMO, this same kind of underestimating of Bush led to his election in Texas in 94 over Richards (who was quite popular), the flipping of Texas to completely R with the help of lots of Diebold machines, and ultimately to the national underestimation of Bush in 2000. I know that California is much bluer than most other places, but I hope no other things like this happen.

IMO Arnold's ascension wasn't a just lucky break, it was a very strategically planned deal, just like the deal with Shelley. It wasn't a coincidence his troubles started after he decertified Diebold. Just like Enron was very strategically aimed at your state and Davis.

I've been planning on moving there, so I read the online papers there all the time. And I'm worried about what is happening.

22. As far as the Democratic Party is concerned we're southern.
Texas was a confederate state, so I think we qualify.

With the help of the current budget and my beloved Howard Dean, I'm hoping to see some changes begin in the south starting in 2006.

Climb on your soapbox and help spread the word! This administration is not for the poor, the elderly, our children or the working farmers! I spoke to a farmer from Midland, Texas last night who is beginning to feel the same way. I was so surprised by his admission I was almost at a loss for words.

It is still running as a conspiracy theory with me as to how Dean wasn't running against Bush in 2004.

How did Kerry, in third or fourth place, suddenly get ahead in the polls so quickly? How did he make inroads so well?

There is another thread on DU about this same question. We need to read it.
