He won me over. I can't believe it, but he won me over.
I've been one of the most staunch Dean critics on DU. However, his "I won't respond to blind quotes" come-back has proved to me that he's got what it takes to stand up to the media and to be an effective leader for Democrats.

I won't say that I was always wrong in my criticism of him, but I WILL say that I think he's got guts and determination, and that he is the best choice our party could have made for the chair position.

So, to all Dean supporters whom I have offended, I say, "Congrats!" to you. Howard Dean has my full support for the position he now occupies.

7. Welcome aboard!
As our parish priest used to say, I'd rather have a sincere convert late in life, than a lukewarm believer from a toddler on.

8. He is more centerist than I would like, but I will gladdly welcome
his guts and determination. I think this is in large part what the left needs. Someone, anyone that can stand up and speak truth to power. Its been a long time coming.

10. His toughness and integrity are what appealed to me from the start.

I never agreed with *everything* he said, but his honesty and forthrightness count for more, I think.

I hope he can give the party a good kick in the pants.

12. As a Deanie going way back, I have long been aware of his faults.
So you probably WERE right about them. He's short and got no neck (not his fault, but we all know how the right uses stuff like that) His tendency to blurt out silly pronouncements like "I'm the guy for the guys in the pickups with the gun racks & confederate flags", etc.

BUT... those same things are also a part of his appeal. In an age where everything is so scripted and focus grouped and chock full of phony pablum, he just seemed more real and more passionate than the rest. I'm glad to have him as head of DNC. I hope that a less visible position will work well for him, and our party. God knows we need a change and a shot in the arm!

14. There are things that I too
do not like about him, but no chairman is perfect. And that is okay. It is good that we are finding ways to compromise and to find ways to work together. I watch what is happening to the neocons, example today's news regarding FreeRepublic.com. It seems like everyday I read about another few conservatives pushed out of the loop for a difference of opinion. The other day it was the farmers being disrespected, the minister who married his homosexual daughter, anyone who questions anything * says or wiggles one little finger a bit differently. These people, once pushed away, will start questioning the new republican values/views and look elsewhere for something a little kinder. They may not become liberals or progressives, but they will be more moderate. And that is fine. I don't feel it is the differences we have, but the unwillingness to work together. So long as * has this crazy hold over so many we are in a mess. Each day we are making baby steps. Anyway, that is just MHO.

15. I think he learned alot in the past two years and knows this job is the
right fit for him at this time.

He knows that the media is controlled by the GOP and that the voting machines are focked. That is one helluva leg up.

He's showing the media that HE knows they're biased against Dems. This past election gave us more than enough proof of that.
