"Vanity Fair" the new anti Bush magazine!!!!!!
You should check out this month's issue with George Clooney on the cover(remember him? the treasonous anti war celeb). Some of the articles include "Bush and the Bin Ladens", "Missed Clues Inside The Anthrax Investigation","Liberia's Savage Harvest" which shows some haunting pictures of the children soldiers and "MSNBC's Fox Hunt" which talks about MSNBC's failed attempt to mimic Fox.

The Editor's Letter this month in a subtle way is comparing Bush to Hitler. Here is a piece:

Throughout the war on terror and the one in Iraq, the White House has continually played with the truth. National security is a reasonable justification for some obfuscation at at time like this. But the administration is quick to label any who would question its motives or actions as unpatriotic. The following quote is telling and indeed chilling:" People don't want war...but can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger." That's not from some weedy Democrat or a disaffected columnist. It was said by Hitler's Luftwaffe chief and designated successor, Hermann Goring, to a psychologist in 1946, at the time of the Nuremberg war-crimes trials.

3. the editor can't stand bush
the editor, graydon carter, can't stand bush. reading some of his recent editorials in the magazine, he sounds like a du member. he has gotten some criticism for his criticism of bush, and i thought in the next issue(s) he would soften it down a bit to not offend anyone. but he didn't. they still have a couple of articles sometimes by some "liberal republican" types, but overall it's worth getting if you are a liberal who wants something good to read.

5. There's also an article mentioning Joey Scar and the dead intern.
Edited on Wed Sep-10-03 01:16 AM by Jim Sagle
(On edit: this is the MSNBC article mentioned in the thread header.)

It's a cable media bash by James Wolcott. While pounding on MSNBC, he quotes heavily from the work of internet reporters Denis Wright and Chris George, who wrote several investigative pieces on Lori Klausutis, the dead intern who was found in Scarborough's northwest Florida office.

Also included is a snip from Scarborough's radio interview with Don Imus, in which they joke around about how he had sex with the intern and had to kill her.

Just joking.

Of course.

Or is it BOASTING?

Is it also INTENDED INTIMIDATION? Are things so far gone that they can say out loud and in the media, "Yeah, we're murderers - what the fuck do you think you're going to do about it?" and get away with it?

Looks that way.

6. I've been shocked at VF's turn against Bush
Last month's issue had the most scathing indictment of the Dept. of the Interior that I have read anywhere. They absolutely shredded Gail Norton, and the man who really runs the department, mining company wonderboy, Steven Griles.

I dumped my subscription right after the fawning, post-9/11 photo spread of Chimpy-n-Friends, but I'm reconsidering now.

8. But notice how Norton & Griles agreed to pose for photos
for the piece. I guess they figure that any publicity is good publicity.
