It's funny to see so many Repugs cross party lines this morning.....

First Harkin's bill passed with about 4 Repugs crossing the line... so much for trying to kill overtime pay Mr. Bush!

Now there have been several defectors on a separate ammendment to provide funding for the Ryan White AIDS project. Not sure what the outcome is yet.

5. you're correct (i avoid the word 'right' whenever possible)

most people visit congressional websites at election time to check out voting records. the votes and issues positions begin with the most current ones, which means you have to spend most of a day searching for a true sense of his/her voting record.

3. There have always been a few

They were just afraid to cross the WH when it was a political juggernaught. Now that chinks are appearing in the armor, they probably realize that they can safely cross party lines on some of the more outrageous issues.

There are several decent Republicans left, especially in the Senate -- Olympia Snowe, Lincoln Chafee, Richard Lugar, Joe Lieberman.

Oops. I think that was a Freudian slip there.... ;-)

If there was really truth in campaigning, Holy Joe would begin every speech with:

"Hi, I'm Joe Lieberman, and I represent the Republican wing of the Democratic Party."

(on second thought, I think Holy Joe would really like to call it the Democrat Party. That would get him another session with Tweety and Fat Tim.)

9. You have to wonder what His Heinous was THINKING on overtime.

With an election coming up, and his attempts to bring/keep "Reagan" Democrats in his fold, why on earth did he propose the ridiculous overtime restriction? It's not like it was a burning issue. At best, he pleased the hell out of a few hundred executives of major corporations. But he's pissed off hundreds of thousands of reactionary union members. His loss, our gain.

I think these guys aren't nearly as politically savy as we thought they were a couple of years ago. They had a run of good luck. But it's over.

12. The overtime issue is not a union only issue

I am not a union member and am extremely concerned about losing overtime pay. The pugs want to frame it as a union only issue in order to create more hatred of unions.

11. We need to thank those pugs who defied Bushco, Inc.

I would suggest that those folks, who live in states where the pug Senator voted to support working people, send a thank you note or thank you e mail.

These senators are vulnerable to losing committee positions. Look they were courageous and stood up to the Bush juggernaut and said NO we are supporting the working men and women of America.

Bushco, Inc will do all in their power to reign in what they must view as renegade Republicans. We need to show them they are not alone.

Going against the grain is not taken lightly in the pug party.
