Drudge really has it in for Chris Rock, doesn't he?
He was on last night's Hannity and Colmes, railing about how indecent and racist Chris Rock is.

Drudge is trying to get him fired from his gig of hosting the Oscars.

Says it's a classy event, and shouldn't be hosted by someone with no class.

I need to shoot Chris an email.

1. Video at "Crooks and Liars" blog
http://www.crooksandliars.com/

Matt Drudge appeared on the Hannity and Colmes show with his torch a' burnng for Chris Rock. (This is only part of the interview.)

Video

He objected to Rock's particular sense of humor for making jokes about Bush, abortion, and gays, and while calling it humor also cited it as social commentary.( Isn't that humor?)

Hannity: Did you talk to Chris Rock for this story. Did you get in touch with him?

Drudge: No, because there's simply enough out there.

When Colmes asked him if he was using his website to try and get Rock removed:

Drudge: Oh, I don't know....

Colmes: ..do you have an agenda?

Drudge: No, I don't...I..I..I...

2. Seriously.
They are terrified of what he will say about Bush.

Rock is merciless when it comes to Bush.

They can't imagine getting him on that stage in front of the whole country.

It's like Michael Moore with tact and non-partisan approval.

20. I wouldn't go so far as to say that Rock has tact.
In fact, that's why I like him. He doesn't give a shit.

3. WOW! What a HUGE story!
Leave it to drudge to dig up a "scandalous" story like this. Who really gives a rats ass anyway? Rock is entitled to an opinion. Why don't these a-holes understsnd that? Is drudge campaigning for the host's job himself?

walked up and slapped his hat off of his head. Since when is this walking egghead the arbiter of good taste? Maybe someone should develop an agenda which includes ole Matt.

8. My post from the other night:
Subject: He was probably practicing for his monologue.

Chris Rock is the most talented comedian/social critic alive.

His influence on the mainstream that will watch the Oscars can only be a net positive.

Let them get mad. Rock tells it like is, every time. Half of Hollywood probably laughed when they read that.

Like, "That Chris Rock. He's so funny."

Are we starting to get tired of them targeting our celebrities for bullshit controversy? I know I am.

Drudge loves nothing more than attempting to scandalize liberal celebs.

The funny thing is that right-wingers have no sense of humor. Drudge overreacts to something, and normal people are like, "That's what Chris Rock does...duh." Where's the Outrage :eyes:?

As for the Oscars, fuck 'em if they can't take a joke.

:D

15. I agree 100%.. Chris Rock is hysterical and about as left leaning as
one can be. He is hysterical, as well as being one of the most intelligent comedians around. The last time I saw him perform, he got very serious in the midst of his riotous show about how bad Bush is, and how important it is to get out there and do something about him before we all lose our liberties.
THAT is probably why Drudge was given the job to badmouth him so publicly.
Sure hope it totally backfires on Drudge, and his boss, KKKarl Rove.

28. he's a lefty?
I am surprised, since I read a story where he said he spent $50,000 on a car. I guess liberals can be rich, but it seems like false consciousness to me. Just surprising is all. I am happy to have any ally in the cause.

9. Drudge is a major race baiter
Edited on Tue Feb-15-05 12:44 PM by Snellius
He and Fox News never miss an opportunity to portray African Americans as either drug addicts, violent savages, sexual predators, or in any way physically weird. During the last midterm elections, Drudge ran a full-page unflattering photo of a group of over-weight black women standing before a voting machine, with the caption "May the best candidate win". In other words, better get out there and vote, whitey, or they will decide it for you.

12. I think Matt was spurned by him.
Matt probably wrote Rock a long letter telling of his love, then reacted in a rather unprecedented manner when he was turned down.

Chris Rock deserves a medal for saying this before he hosts the Oscars.

27. He also doesn't watch the shows
Doesn't sound like a big fan of the arts to me. The no awards for arts is not ballsy - it's derogatory when you hear everything he has to say. Imagine a wingnut spewing these lines (which they often do). Balls of steel would not come to mind. However, he is African-American, and I believe that is why he is getting poured on like milk on cereal.

don't know why, but he gets obsessed with certain people to an unhealthy degree for seemingly no reason

and remember, class is defined as a guy in his parents' basement who get rich by starting a "news" site about presidentail blowjobs

"Imagine if you had said something like this, or if Michael Savage had something like this."

Well, let's see... I know the differences between Michael Savage and Chris Rock are very few and very subtle, but they are different people...

22. Crooks and Liars just posted an update:
Chris Rock Update

I just talked to the P.R. department of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and they said Chris Rock will definetly host the Oscars. They also said that they had no knowledge of any members complaining about Chris Rock as the host of the show(which has been reported by Drudge) and are excited to have him do their telecast.

crooksandliars.com

Looks like Drudge is a lying sack of shit. But then, we already knew that.

26. the old and familiar trap
When will conservatives get it? This tactic of raising such a bruhahah (sp?) over such a stupid little matter always backfires on them. These Oscars will have the highest ratings in a long, long time, thanks in part to muckrakers like Drudge.

Everyone's just going to want to watch now and see if Chris sticks it to the man or sells out big time. Or maybe Drudge just wants to be made fun of on Oscar night and get that free publicity.

29. I just want to say something nice about Chris Rock.
Sorry, no link because this was a few years ago, but there was a kid in a small town in Vermont who was dying of cancer and his wish was to meet Chris Rock. Chris and his wife went to the kid's house in the small, Vermont village, visited with him and left a few souvenirs. It was a high point in the kid's life and was even mentioned when he died. (I'm intentionally leaving out the name of the town and the kid for the sake of the family's privacy.)

And yet, some of my fellow Democrats insist that we shouldn't refer to these idiots as "sheep" Well, fuck that.
