OMG...CNN 'interview' with two of the kids taken out of school for Bible

study. They were the happy family and they asked the older child about the 15 percent of students who choose to not leave school for Bible study. A parent said they were ostracized. The 4th grader, I'm guessing, said there is no animosity towards students "LEFT BEHIND" :wtf:

Obviously they are being taught that those bad children who don't attend are in danger of losing their sole and burning.

A friend of mine was one of these "left behind" students in Staunton 20-25 years ago. At that point in time, the school didn't even have an opt-out form -- it was just assumed that everyone would go. She spent most of her school experience being told on a regular basis that she was going to hell, by students and teachers alike. The abuse she had to deal with in that school system apparently was par for the course for those "Left Behind" students.

But it also makes you wonder why kids are being "left behind" when the Smirkaholic's cornerstone domestic policy is NCLB.

I turned on the tube for 5 seconds and cannot, CAN NOT believe they actually send reporters to the freaking hospital where that asshole lunatic Jackson has seen a doctor for the flue.

Has this occurred to anyone else? I knew that's it's been looking like the RW wants to force us to all be churched "in their image", but could it possibly be that someone is using No Child Left Behind as code?

Is it just me today? It may be me. I just finished watching 'The Manchurian Candidate'.

The indoctrination of children into fundamentalism and the belief that the Rapture is real and is going to happen soon has been going on for decades since they started infiltrating school boards. They think they have a green light to steam roll all secular aspects of life since the chimp's 'mandate.' You will also notice that when someone complains about this blatant declaration of State Religion, they cry Persecution!

I quit going to a local coffee shop because the owner installed a big screen TV and has the channel on Faux and he always seemed to be ranting about Jesus....one time he was talking about Gibson's movie and he said he never understood Catholics and their Mary-worship. When he finally shut-up and got me my coffee, I just shook my head and left, never to return. Why can't they just keep it to themselves? Why do I have to hear religion just to get a cup of Joe?

They've done profiles on pastors and fluff pieces revolving around churches and religious groups. The message is the usual stealth "god is good"...or more specific "christian god is good". This is "good news"..."happy news"...and keeps the fundies happy and watching.

WHY are tax dollars going to promote/nationalize Christianity? The church is up in arms because it would cost them more to have this bible study after school because they would have to provide the transportation.

WHY is time being taken out of the day to teach bible scripture when 85% of our children are BELOW proficiency in Gov't classes (including understanding the Constitution) and barely holding on in math and science?

There is NO WAY I would let my children attend that school.

The use of the words 'left behind' seems planned.

Surely there are Catholic, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, non-fundie Protestants not to mention agnostics and athiests who have objected over the years. Why hasn't more of a stink been raised? Where is the ACLU? This is clearly unconstitutional.

I would leave for "Bible Study" just to go home.

They actually have mormon classes in high schools in Idaho. I questioned them on it and the explanation was that it was okay since they weren't credited classes.

constructed for religious instruction right across the street from the Jr High and HS...it wasn't technically on School property but many times one would be hard pressed to see the boundary line. I think the way they fudged it was you could take an opt out period and use that to attend.

Always saw a long stream of kids walking over there every period...and yes, it was often used as a pressure point on those who didn't follow that chosen path.

At least there it was restricted to those in JrHS and up though. Bad as it was in practice, it has to be 100 times worse to start sorting kids like that at age 6 or 7.

I can't remember if they had it at the Jr. High, but it certainly bugged me.

I they did a lot of their business there and handled all sorts of matters at the churches.

Though, you have to admit, their organizational skills are impressive.
