Am I the only one that thinks the Lebanon/Syria story...............
is getting WAY too much press? I know it was a horrible act and that Syria should get the hell out of Lebanon, but from the reaction from the press, you'd think the world was coming to an end.

Is this an attempt by the bush controlled media to soften up Americans for the up-coming invasion of Syria, Iran and every other country in the Mid-East that the bush administration deems "problematic"?

Is this THAT big a story, and if so WHY? I really don't understand. Any enlightenment here would be helpful. Thanks.

7. Exactly, that one made me wonder too..............
all of this crap erupting at once, all very divisive and unsettling. AND we know the government has "double secret teams" in the Mid-East to disrupt, do recon and god knows what else. I smell a VERY big rat here, and it's name is the United States government.

8. Ramping it up
Gotta get the people stirred up and wanting revenge before they launch a few missiles into Syria. Ya just know there's some itchy fingers on those buttons, heck, it's been two years since they last fired all those missiles into Iraq.

Besides, war is good for the economy, or have yall forgot?

9. where are all the troops going to come from?
Since we invaded Iraq, I don't think that there are enough to go anywhere else, unless we issue up a hell of a big draft and then by the time enough troops are ready to head out anywhere, how long down the road is that???

10. White House reporter on TV said
a Pentagon spokesman said "don't be surprised if there are surgical strikes on bases in Syria" tonight. No boots, just bombs.

Why doesn't someone stop us?

12. They will..................
I think that's been the plan of "third world" countries all along. Get the United States' forces spread out into so many theaters that it's impossible to repel a concerted attack on ANY front. The old enemies forget differences enough to wipe the U.S. off the map.

It was a scenario from one of Tom Clancey's books, I think "Red Storm". That was back when I thought Clancey had some talent and wasn't just another conservative shill.

The Clancey book wasn't counting on having someone as stupid and inept as the bush administration though, so the U.S. repelled the attacks. I don't think we'd be as lucky in real life under the bush regime.

11. it's a bad situation in a pivotal time.
sharon is getting ready to release prisoners, pull back settlers, etc and abbas has boldly declared the PLO/israel war as "over". iraq, no matter what you might think about the war, is trying to find its way to a coalition government (and i personally root for its success, so we can bring the boys home). ditto with afghanistan.

this is a real opportunity for some relative stability in the middle east, and syria is showing its ass.

13. But IS it Syria............................
that's the question. Someone is orchestrating all of this unrest and knowing the bush regime, I wouldn't doubt they had a hand in it.

14. Waaaaaay tooooo much ---- this troubles me
this seems to be a WH issue (or a diversion from the WH/Gannon issue)

there are red flags when all the press moves in unison like this with ZERO facts or investigations done.

16. My first thought
when I heard the news, was that we did it to stir up some crap so we can blame Syria.
This article has the same idea.
