"It's not a Bush problem, it's a Republican problem"
Edited on Wed Sep-10-03 12:52 PM by phillybri
Why don't our candidates take this angle more often? It diffuses all the "Bush-hating" bullshit that the mainstream media is so wrapped up in, AND it addresses the real problem:

Repugs control both houses of Congress and the White House. If we lay the blame for all the recent fuck-ups right at the feet of the Repugs, we not only demonstrate the need for change in the WH but in EVERY race in 2004.

Just my two cents....

3. Let's start with DeLay
The 'Hammer' Tom Delay might be the first I'd like to see kicked out of congress..he's contributing much to the fear factor that prevents people from speaking out, and seems to have turned the ugly tactic of selling political favors into the even-uglier approach of extortion (i.e, 'give us campaign money, what can I do for you' to 'you'd better give us campaign money if you don't want to be shut out').

Then there's Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel (you might recall he's the one that owned ES&S voting machines-and-software company until shortly before his election), the pretty ? face they put on TV to lead the cheers after Bush speeches now.

BTW, I love your signature ("Kerry/Clark in 2004 Bush in prison in 2005") but I'd add my personal fantasy future: Ashcroft in Guatanamo.

5. I think....
.... you make a very good point. It *is* a Rep problem. And making it a Rep problem will help us get back not just the executive branch, but the legislative branch also.

6. I disagree
I think it's more accurate, as well as more direct and effective, to call it a Bush problem. Bush is 100 times worse than his father was, for example, and his father was no picnic.

Plus the republicans don't get off the hook. It looks real bad for them that they supported Bush so much, and it will look bad for them to defend him. Some will distance themselves from him, and that will weaken him and them.

I think they should follow the example of George Ryan in IL, where the unpopular gov. brought down the whole party here. I think Bush is capable of doing it nationwide.
