Proposed Kerry "Deal" with Will Pitt. Weigh In Please!!!
I would like to propose the following deal with Will Pitt regarding John Forbes Kerry.

I admire Will's writing and his tireless defense of Kerry. I just disagree with him and think this issue of Kerry or Dean is really at the heart of America's future.

SO...

I hereby propose that William Pitt INTERVIEW Kerry on the following issues and post the interview here:

1. The medals fiasco. DID he bring his medals with him or did he lie when he said he didn't have time to get them. If he really did not throw his own medals , why not? Why did he not return later and do it? If he nmeant to throw them away why is he displaying them in his office?

2. The Vietnam Real Estate Deal. Did his cousin get the deal? Does he have any proprietary interest in Collier's International (His cousin's firm)

3. What is Kerry's relastionship with Robert Mueller. Were they teammates at St. Paul's as the media has reported and would that make Kerry "soft" on Mueller. Would he be willing to prosecute his former temammate if it was merited under his presidency or would he pardon him?

4. What about Skull and Bones? Is he still a member? Will he renounce it? Will his membership in Skull and Bones with the Bushes affect his ability to seek criminal prosecutions of them in the future? When did he last attend a meeting. WEhat is the opath of Skull anbd Bones and would he renounce that oath in order to assume the presidency?

5. What is the truth behind the filmed recreations of his "heroics" in Vietnam? What did he do to earn his medals. Where are the citations. Where are his ribbons? Did he indeed shoot a wounded soldier in violation of the Geneva convention?

A long while back I proposed a truce with Will on these issues. I have been and remain a Gore supporter, but have reluctantly come to Dean as the most electable candidate.

But if Kerry were to come clean on these issues in a xomprehensive interview with Will Pitt then I might have a different perspective and so might many of us.

Finally, any interview should include a chance for Kerry to read the Alexandra Robbins interview with Guerilla News and address the reasons she (a Yale alumnae who wrote a book on Skull and Bones) states that Kerry or ANY Bonesman should NOT be running the country.

I suspect that I know what Will's response will be to this proposal. But with a little encouragement Will might actually use his intuitive sense of timing and activism to give Kerry a CHANCE to redeem himself in the eyes of many here.

This is an inflkuential site, Will. Your interview with Kerry on these issues might piss him off--- but it would sure as hell clear the air if he can give an honest answer (or any answers at all since he is sworn to secrecy by his skull brothers)

What say you?

If you do this then I will promise not to bother you, Will, about these issues any more.

You KNOW Kerry, Right? You could GET the interview, RIGHT?

It WOULD make a difference to many of us here to have you defend your man mano a mano with a real honest and gutsy interview that could make or break your boy.

2. And if Kerry and Pitt happen to be very busy people and
aren't able to do the indepth interview you want then what?

11. I'd say you're inventing roadblocks...
It would be interesting if candidates/campaigns would answer questions that aren't on their websites via some trustworthy DU'er and post them over on "Politics and Campaigns"

3. I gotta say that I have a lot of questions about Kerry
but none of them are the ones you've listed, which all fall into the "when did you stop beating your wife" category.

The Pitt/Kerry interview I would like to see would revolve around the following question: "OK, so you have a war record. Apart from that, why should you be the next president of the United States?"

Not at all trying to belittle Kerry's war record, but it is not going to be a make or break issue for me. Yet since everyone else seems obsessed with it, I have not heard that much about what Kerry actually wants to do. That's what I'd be interested in reading, not a load of defensive responses to a bunch of impeachmentesque interrogatories.

C ya,

The Plaid Adder

4. Let me get this straight. You'll stop forwarding unproven rumors if Will
stops everything and gets an interview with a busy presidential candidate in order to satisy paranoid delusional theories?

That's extortion.

5. Sorry... if there were an interview
I would want to hear about issues. I want him to give specifics. I want him to speak to his legislative record (including his war vote that I find exceptionally regretable).

I am not interested in reading a defensive interview dictated by one person's paranoia.

I can't believe that you would propose that Will compromise his credibility as a writer by asking him to ask rightwing paranoid tinfoil questions at the exclusion of real substance.

Besides, I am pretty certain that even if this interview were to happen - nothing could be said to convince you that he meant what he said even if it were legitimate. That is what blind ideology/perspective does. So you would shoot the opportunity for a substantive interview in which people who may or maynot be supportive can figure out whether or not this is a candidate to support based on THE ISSUES. You would ask Will to compromise his position as an up and coming journalist. And nothing that could be written or said would persuade you to believe anything different than what you already believe.

What a silly challenge.

And this is all said from by one (salin) for whom Kerry is NOT my likely choice in the primary.

6. I must admit to ignorance as I didn't know there was any
controversy about most of this stuff.

I think these are fair questions and the reason I do is, if he is our nominee the other side will be asking them. We need to know the answers to these and they need to be defused right now.

7. I must confront your willful ignorance on one thing
and that is: Why did Kerry not "cash in" on his valued S&B connections by wheeling and dealing on Wall Street like Dean? And the answer is it has a lot to do with personal ethics and social responsibility. You see, Kerry went straight into public service at the beginning of his adult life, whereas Dean went skiing, worked his family connections on Wall Street, and lived a bit of a cozy life, (not much unlike W).
So, whenever the hell it was that Dean "saw religion" and decided to go into public life, Kerry was far, far ahead of him.... by many years.

8. I thought Dean was a doctor
since when did he leave wheeling and dealing on wall street to hold office/public life?

Come on. Don't challenge delusional lies about one candidate, with delusional lies about another.
