2. Here is a bio
Very one-sided as it is written by his organization but should give you some idea.

http://www.larouchepub.com/resume.html

Explore the website some and you should get a pretty good picture but basically he is a nut.

Off the top of my pointy little head: Perennial candidate of yesteryear. Makes Ross Perot look like Thomas Jefferson...once accused the Queen of England of drug running. Dave Barry likened his brain to a "whack-a-mole" game.

I'll see what else I can find.

on edit: Jefferson

7. from selectsmart.com
Lyndon H. LaRouche, Jr. (Democrat) Virginia

LaRouche is a self-described controversial international political figure. Perennial candidate and purported political cult leader LaRouche is back for an eighth presidential bid. He was candidate for U.S. presidential nomination of Democratic Party: 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000. U.S. presidential candidate, U.S. Labor Party, 1976.

A high school graduate, and a repeated college attendee, LaRouche calls himself a "world's leading economist". His conspiracy theories have implicated Queen Elizabeth, "British bankers," the Pope, narcotics producers, Jesuits, Yale University's Skull & Crossbones Society, environmentalists, and many others.

Originally a Trotskyite political organizer in the Socialist Workers Party in the 1960s, he formed the now-defunct and neo-fascist US Labor Party, then registered as a Democratic in 1979.

LaRouche was convicted and imprisoned on felony fraud charges in the late 1980s related to the fundraising activities of his political organization.

9. Still accuses Queenie of drug smuggling I think!!!
& to Catwoman -- a serious nutcase, but a dangerous one per a recent story I read in the Independent where some suspicion was cast over the death of a recent British Larouche convert, Jerry Duggan

(I did a quick search for the story & it seems to have gone into "pay-per-view" sadly:

I seem to remember chastising you for the use of the word "retard" and you explained that it had some association with LaRouche.

In fact, I think this may be the third time I have seen this thread.

14. LaRouche
http://www.politics1.com/dems04.htm

Frequent candidate and purported political cult leader LaRouche is back for an eighth Presidential run in 2004. As in the past, expect him to appear on several state primary ballots (note: he'll be 81-years-old during the 2004 primary season). LaRouche, a college drop-out and self-described "world's leading economist," weaves a web of conspiracy theories -- cloaked in a swirl of historic truths and mistruths -- usually implicating Queen Elizabeth, British bankers, the Pope and the Jesuits, the Trilateral Commission, drug cartels, environmentalists, Jane Fonda, Ted Kennedy, George Bush, the CIA and FBI, Osama bin Laden, gays, Israel, the Clintons, Margaret Thatcher and many others. He started his career as a Trotskyist political organizer in the Socialist Workers Party in the 1960s, formed the now-defunct and ultra right-wing US Labor Party in the early 1970s after a violent break from the SWP ... before finally shifting his entire neo-fascist network into the Democratic Party by 1979. LaRouche was convicted and imprisoned for five years on felony fraud charges in the late 1980s related to the fundraising activities of his political organization -- although his supporters maintain he was a political prisoner unfairly prosecuted by vindictive federal government agents. LaRouche's old nemesis, the Anti Defamation League (ADL), has published various booklets over the years that identify LaRouche as anti-Semitic. LaRouche strongly denies he is anti-Semitic and notes that numerous Jewish individuals are leaders in his organization. He also strongly denies the "cult" allegations. In 2000, LaRouche captured just 124 votes (11th place) in the New Hampshire Democratic primary -- and blamed his poor showing on a conspiracy led by the New Hampshire Secretary of State. He also competed in numerous other 2000 primaries -- but generally finishing in the 1-4% range in each contest. Although he passed the required 15% needed to win delegates in the late season Arkansas primary (he won 22%), the DNC refused to award LaRouche any delegates because they ruled that he was "not a real Democrat." LaRouche sued the DNC -- but the federal court ruled that the Democratic Party had the legal right to deny awarding any delegates to LaRouche, as he was not an authentic Democratic candidate because of his fringe views. The DNC also notes that LaRouche -- as a convicted felon -- is not a registered Democrat (nor even a registered voter) and is also not eligible under party rules to be the nominee for this reason. For the same reason, party leaders are excluding him from the debates -- even though he raised $3.7 million as of the end of March 2003 (which placed him ahead of all but Edwards and Kerry in the money hunt). Of that amount, he has $120,000 remaining unspent.

And almost as much as Kucinich:

BTW, he has served time in prison for fruadulently billing people's credit cards. Fortunately the media ignores him. Too bad he has managed to brainwash a small group of devoted followers.

21. I've told this short story before
and I'll tell it again.

Years ago I rented a car that only had an AM radio in it. One of the stations ran a short editorial by Lyndon Larouche. In it, he argued that all environment legislation is unconstitutional because it violates the first amendment -- you see, he said (and I remember this quote) "All environmentalists worship at the altar of Gaia". Therefore, environmental laws break down the separation of church and state, and establish a national religion.

That's all I needed to know about him.

22. And unfortunately for Illinois Democrats....
One of the Larouchies was actually nominated for statewide office (I think it was Treasurer or Sec. of State, I don't remember for sure) in the Democratic primary because no one knew who the real Democratic candidate was. The Larouche supporter had a more "mainstream" last name.

That caused Adlai Stevenson III to leave the Democratic ticket and run for governor as an Independent...one of the most embarassing moments for Illinois Democrats, but a cautionary tale for Democrats elsewhere.

That's why Adlai had to run Independant or risk installing the LaRouchie in office and one heartbeat away from the Governorship.

23. Through the years, I've always run into LaRouche supporters,
handing out leaflets for their candidate and trying to talk to me about him. And no surprise, they usually look like wackos.

I guess I'll have that to look forward to again this year.

25. From R. A. Wilson's reference "Everything Is Under Control", pp.279-280
Lyndon LaRouche has made a long and kinky journey from the Far Left to the Far Right, with a stop off in federal prison for fraud and tax evasion. (All his disciples insist that he was framed, of course.) While his distinctive conspiracy theory has evolved somewhat over the years, it remains constant in finding the British Royal Family the most, or one of the most, sinister forces in the galaxy. Under Queen Elizabeth II and British Intelligence (MI5 and MI6), an "Anglo-American cabal" rules the world and presently is engaged in a genocidal program to de-industrialize and de-populate Third World nations. The IMF, the World Bank, and George Bush sr. are among the major co-conspirators in this fiendish sceme.

The Anglo-American cabal finances and reaps most of the profits of the illegal drug traffic, and also finances (as tools of genocide) the birth control and abortion movements; to further de-populate and deplete the planet, they also promote Feminism, homosexuality, Satanism, and "the sex-drugs-rock-and-roll counterculter." At one time LaRouche claimed that Queen Elizabeth II personally sent the philosophers Aldous Huxley and Alan Watts to America to corrupt us with drugs and Asian religions.

LaRouche is a high-tech advocate, with an agenda far different from others of that persuasion. He favors terraforming Venus to make it a second human habitation, but opposes space colonies in interplanetary space and has denounced the L5 society (agitators for space colonization) as a Gnostic cult. ("Gnostic" is a very nasty word in his vocabulary, and he also hates Aristotle and modern painting.) He urges the use of atomic bombs to create huge irrigation canals in the Middle East and sees multiculturalism as a plot to destroy the benefits that Western science has brought to the world. And, like Ezra Pound, LaRouche believes that the major economic flaw in the present system is usury; enemies accuse him of anti-semitism often, but nobody has quite proven that charge totally.

It is only fair to note that LaRouche has charged in print that the present author is a member of the Illuminati.
