I have what is probably the WORST state representative in Austin EVER and he's a republican through and through.

He wants to make it legal to bring guns into schools, churches, and hospitals. He has NEVER explained why, but read on for possible motivations.

He has voted against funding schools and textbooks a record SEVENTEEN TIMES. He has NEVER voted yes for school funding or books. Never.

He got a measure passed to cut out poor womens' access to birth control in this state.

He owns a private prison consulting/building business on the side, as well as a gun shop and a couple of gun ranges.

(Think about that---wouldn't it behoove him to keep up a nice stable prison population given what he does for a living on the side? That is disgusting.)

He was BUSTED running his private business out of his taxpayer-funded offices in Austin.

I could go on and on but you get the idea, hopefully by now. Some of the WORST repukes come from right here.

Ok, Well I live in MA, so all of our R's ( with the exception of that lying bastard govenor) are usually moderate.

But read my further post- the party will change, be it in 2 years or 20, and at that time, you have to be willing to see how EACH party changes.

As a former repug (Reagan, BushI), I have observed that a large number of them (voters, that is, not the administration) are acually very nice people.. but very, very, very clueless. It takes kind of mental evolution to break free of the conservative mind-set. The ability to see reality isn't easy for a lot of people, or even possible for some.. but hate-talk isn't exactly going to lure people left of the center line.

Once upon a time, in this land not so far away, there was such a thing as a moderate republican. They weren't all that rare. I know its hard to imagine, since now they're as common as a bigfoot sighting, but really, they did exist.

They were reasonable people, who believed in science, education and some even believed in a woman's right to choose. They were republican, because they didn't like big intrusive government, but they did like government and felt many programs were important and successful. They just wanted the money to be spent wisely.

Then one day, these people known as moderate republicans were attacked by the religious right....just for being different. It started innocently, with the usual level of ridicule in politics, but then it mushroomed out of control, with orders of conformity or extinction. The moderate is now virtually extinct. They keep a few in cages, and they let them out of the cages at election time. They get paraded around with the other republicans so that people think they're more abundant than they are. But then they get locked back up again, and they are hunted, even in their cages. This way they will get learned helplessness. This is what they tried to do to the democrats too. For a while it worked, but anger and resilience is building.

Unlike the moderate republican, the democrats are not an enagered species.

So, to help the democrats...I have joined the party, made contributions to the DNC and move-on....I have even joined the ACLU.

I do not want the democrat to become as rare as the moderate republican. I want this tale to end happily ever after.

One thing that turned me off of conservatives so much was their idea that anybody who wasn't like them was the enemy. I sometimes see them as people who could get us killed without meaning to. After all, if we're traitors to the country for opposing a war and the death penalty is legal, then why wouldn't we be executed? It makes sense to me. They don't realize what the hell they're saying when they say stuff like that.

Anyway, saying the same thing about them the other way around and saying that they need to be "dealt with" makes me have flashbacks.

I'm a little worried that leftists are becoming like conservatives. The one thing I love about leftists is that they're not conservatives.

Luckily, you're wrong. That's just how the DLC has been trying to steer us in the last three miserably-failed major elections.

But just about all assholes are Republican.

They don't evolve. Their mentality is inbred. No new ideas allowed.

I simply have no interest in republicans. Those I have met have been simple-minded and full of self-interest. They've come off arrogant, pompous, and ....really like people who have experienced no loss in their life, so they have no comprehension of human loss. I may be wrong here, but this is my personal experience of dealing with that foul breed.

The bottom line is, republicans I have spoken with tend to be mean-spirited. I've tried to understand, I've tried to heal. At this point, fuck it. The bastards have a sickness they are trying to spread around the world, and that sickness may very well destroy our world. I value their lives, but the value of their lives does NOT supercede that of my children.

Fuck those rat-bastards until they come to their senses. If they can't do that one small thing, just valuing their neighbor, let 'em die. I'll bring flowers to the maggots that eat their flesh.
