Beware next "Pearl Harbor"-Neocons Manufactured Event-Excellent article
Bush's supporters of wider war are longing for a violent event that they can translate into a Pearl Harbor magnitude "attack on America," however it is provoked, whatever its true ingredients. As Solzhenitsyn observed, lies always bring violence in their wake – and the neocons want ever more violence. And they have proved it by lying to us incessantly.
In his article, "Remember Pearl Harbor", Christopher Manion gives us reason to ponder the possibility of another catalysing event to further the war agenda of the neocons. He writes:

:Someday soon, expect to hear that America has been attacked – in the Middle East, in some other faraway land, or perhaps on our own soil. At that point, George Bush will gravely stride to the podium and announce that, while "9/11 changed everything," everything has changed yet again. America must adopt a "new realism," he will announce, and adopt a "true war footing" to address the world war we are in. Taxes will skyrocket, government powers will mushroom, and the draft will be brought back with a vengeance. And, like my father and his companions in America First before World War Two, opponents of this war will be expected to retire to the bleachers and cheer, wondering all the while how their drafted sons and daughters are faring out there in some distant desert far from home.
Plato said that a tyrant is one who acts out his nightmares when he is awake. The neocons want you wake up one morning to their nightmare. If you rub your eyes and see violence on all sides, and your family starts getting draft notices in the mail, you might wonder how it all happened."

Well, here's the answer:

Remember Pearl Harbor.

1. Of this - I have no doubt
we'll be lucky to get through the end of March is my guess - without some manufactured terrorist attack from the Neocons.

11. Safe Spots
When the manufactured attack occurs take refuge anywhere there is a IRS building.

17. I think that was tongue-in-cheek. If we're gonna wage endless war,
the Feds gotta keep collecting the taxes! Heh heh. :eyes:

2. Nice article, but
I wish the author wouldn't have advertised his father's connections with America First. That organization was a well known front group for Nazi sympathizers in the the years leading up to WWII. Not good to have a connection between anti-war and Nazism, even in this day and age.

3. a draft could increase us vulnerability
to attack, if it's done too early and for the wrong reasons. Our population will grow weary of war, our economy will be in the tank (pardon pun) from financing the war, and then we'll be ripe for an invasion on our own land ...like Germany in WWII. Whoever does it will justify it as a move to end US' hegemonous destruction of the planet.

4. Nice post and article. Thanks. Hold on this is going to get ugly.
And I'm sure when the 'next one' hits, people will still argue until their blue in the face that this wasn't a MIHOP.

I think the reason people are so lividly opposed the MIHOP theories is they have to admit their whole frame of reality has been destroyed.

That is the ideas they grew up w/ such as:

1. America is the greatest country on earth.
2. America only stands for good and only acts to make lives better
3. We are free.
4. Everyone wants to be like us and want's to have what we have.
5. Our government is here to protect us.
6. Our government is an elected one.

5. these are my expectations, but it will spell doom for the neocon
Since most people are tired of the Iraq war and feel it was a mistake, I do not believe Americans will support an all out war with Iran/Syria. I believe they'll see through US provocations. After the WMD deception, the neocons have no cedibility. Americans don't want perpectual war. This is a basic fundamental FACT. There is a VERY REAL price to pay. We've been paying this price in Iraq and its wearing thin.

There is no doubt that the neocons want all this....but they seem to all suffer from the delusion that Americans will go along. Just like they had the delusion that Iraqi's wouldn't see through their actions and have an insurgency.

Their craziness will be their undoing....until the next time we forget history and/or elect another crazy person.

6. Terror Attack On U.S. Soil Would Be Inadequate For Their Purposes
They need an attack by a State actor to justify a draft. Another terror attack on U.S. soil would not provide the justification, and would be probably be seen as a failing, particularly after the campaign statements that Our Leader would keep the security Mom’s safe.

I agree with the author that the Israeli strike on the Iranian nuclear infrastructure is the leading candidate for initiation of the next level of the final Great Game. Ever wonder what Israel needs long range F-15's and 500 (just delivered) bunker buster bombs for? Bombing Gaza?

Following this attack, Iran will lash out at US forces in the Gulf, or strike back at Israel, all per plan. Or will they? What if they take their case to the UN? One thing the neocon’s have a propensity for is forgetting that the ‘enemy’ always gets a vote.

The author is also correct that something is going to happen in the next few months. The entire timetable is being driven by the date of fueling the reactor at Bushehr. Striking a fueled reactor is probably even more than Our Leader is willing to risk. Everything I have read is that Iran is still 2-3 years off from having a domestically produced bomb, irregardless of what Israel says.

Barring the neo-cons coming to their senses, or the Iranians doing the unexpected (much more likely), I will stick by my scenario as follows:

Step 1) ‘Israel’ strikes Iran's 'nuclear' infrastructure.

Step 2) Iran lash's out at US forces in gulf region. Look for the Kitty Hawk and John F. Kennedy steaming up and down the coast of Iran supporting operations, in harm's way.

Step 3) Our Leader goes in front of Congress, says that we are victims of an unprovoked attack, like Pearl Harbor, calls for a draft to raise sufficient military strength to deal with the rogue state of Iran.

Step 4) Occupy SW corner of Iran, flatlands (tank country) where oil is. Brutally suppress any remaining opposition in Iraq with our new draftee legions to liberate them from the oppressive burden of oil wealth.

Step 5) Give massive contracts to Halliburton and other buddies to sell off the Iranian oil as 'reparations' for their dastardly attack.

Step 6a) The Oligarchs get rich.

Step 6b) The rest of us go broke or die trying to push through the Zagros mountains and occupy Iran. Of course, this part of the sub step is not that important to the neo-cons.

8. I recall there being 2 dams at the edge of the plain around Ahvaz
with smallish lakes behind them.
My maps show the city of Dezful just below one.
Oh, and a big port is Bandar-e Bushehr, so they won't have to rename that one when the Emperor conquers it.

9. That would be an insufficient catalyst and they know it.
There are too many Americans already questioning what is happening in Iraq, questioning the underlying intentions of this administration, questioning whether the administration is going to throw this country into another war, wondering why the administration is being so evasive about the foregoing questions.

Besides, there has been an awful lot of foreshadowing about the inevitability of a dirty bomb or other major terror attack on U.S. soil.

9/11 was symbolic in so many ways infecting the human subconscious. My bet is, this time, they'll pick some apocalyptic script out of the old testament this time.

It is still intriguing how the neoCONs' and AQ's agendas seem to work perfectly in tandem with one another.

Yes, it truly is.

Then again, you can't have Oceania without Eurasia and Eastasia.

16. No I really think they are going to play it close to something like that.
It will be something over seas. Something easy to connect to Iran and or Syria.

13. Very Good points
I don't think it would take a home grown terrorist event. They didn't need anything this elaborate in Vietnam - just a made up event of
"We were attacked".

Again, I could see them position themselves in Iran's way where there could be an "accidental" altercation and - Boom! Here comes the draft.

We almost had that already this week.

Or our great friends, Isreal (you know the guys that have more UN violations than any country on earth) will pull some shit they can't back up and we will send our kids to do their dirty work.

This is going to be a fucked up year.

I don't know why others can't see it.
