One great thing about the ACLU and other

civil liberties groups:
No matter how many right-wing voters there are, and no matter how many red states there are, the ACLU can not be voted out by the right wing! This is why they hate them so much! When are people going to learn that you can't just vote away the Bill of Rights?

1. Yesterday I saw a bumpersticker that just had the letters ACLU

on it, only the "C" had been replaced by the old soviet hammer & sickle sign. I didn't realize it, but apparently the bill of rights is a communist document.

2. That is the most insane thing I've ever heard of!

How in the name of all that is holy could anyone object to an organization whose sole purpose is to defend the civil liberties of us all? That is a mindset I will clearly never understand. Never.

3. I'm sure these people have no idea what ACLU's mission is. They just

hear the rightwing rant on the radio, and think they have an opinion. The same car had another bumper sticker that had the U.N. logo on it and read: "U.N. American!"

that makes 'em a John Bircher. Those nutcases have always hated the ACLU because the ACLU supports civil liberties for people who aren't rich, white, Republican males, and because they support the separation of church and state. The Birchers have always thought that separation of church and state was a Commie idea. Damn that fellow traveler Jefferson, anyway!
