1. Please, put her on the stump...

Knowing what we know now, and will know, and the mess she'll create by 2008, she's dead meat if she runs for office.

8. She wove her own rope in front of the 9/11 commision, that's for sure...
When she recalled the title of that "historic" PDB named "Bin Laden determined to strike in US" without a hint of irony or shame...well, that pretty much tells us how much of a soul she has left.

I mean, damn, who would've known that bin Laden was determined to strike in the United States, with obscure intelligence like that?

Clarke apologized. What'd she do? CYA, baby...

12. She may be as articulate, she just doesn't lie as well.
Now don't get me wrong, she lies as MUCH, just not as well. To paraphrase her shining moment on Meet the Press:
Russert: "How did the 16 words get back in?"
Condi: "Uh, we forgot"

13. Rice will not
even be nominated. The Republicans aren't ready to commit suicide. Run a black and female Condi Rice against any white male democrat and he wins by a landslide.

5. My warning from 1 yr ago: "no one ever lost an election...
by underestimating the stupidity of the US electorate." With apologies to H.L. Mencken.

And another prescient warning:

"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron." — H. L. Mencken

9. Oh I am well aware of how stupid they can be... but I think we have to
remember, as well, how racist their base is. Southern Repu voters will NOT vote for a black woman. They may not go vote for the Dem. but they will stay home if they need to. And that is even better for us, because we can win down ticket then too.

14. But in this country
Race plays big. There would be millions of southern white males voting for the white Democrat. Blacks will be allowed to hold a few positions in which they have little power but the United States presidency, no way. Not for quite a while, I suspect.

6. who would vote for her?
I don't think we've come that far yet. I don't think that black democrats will cross over and vote for condi just because she is black. and I don't think the white Evangelical south is ever gonna vote for a black just because they're repub.

who would vote for her?

10. Remember, Gonzales' confirmation is a "victory for Hispanics"...
They'll put ethically bankrupt and incompetent Condi up on the stump, call it a "victory for blacks and women"...and if you oppose her, well, shame on you.

These scumbags will stop at nothing.

15. Believe me, the
white southern male won't care if he is thought to be a racist. When he goes into that booth, he will not vote for a black female.

17. Colin Powell is popular, so is this country very racist?
I don't think so (maybe 30% are....but they're morons). His approval ratings are consistently 70%. Despite that he lied on behalf of W., I still like him for his having fought these guys from within. Although, his UN presentation disappointed me. Publicly, he pretended to be loyal, but privately, he fought the good fight.

He's reasonable and as honest as you'll get from any politician. He does not strike me as out to do any harm.

I think most people feel this way about him.

Most people don't like Condi, because she's a W puppet and a BIG BIG LIAR.

This country is not as extreme as they're telling us. Most in the electorate identify themselves as democrats. Almost 60% see the country as going in the wrong direction. The same number of people are pro-choice (first trimester) and for civil unions. But to hear the pundits describe the electorate, you'd think the majority are right wing nutjobs.

19. Maybe that's a double-edged sword...
Powell's popularity won't necessarily translate into presidential possibilities.

They may like him as Sec of State, but nothing more. Hell, I liked him too, I was counting on his 'voice of reason'.

He did lie. Flat-out. And then he went on later to say that he disagreed with the intel and the message.

So, where was his backbone? If he knew it was wrong, why didn't he fight harder? He's the Sec of State, he could have gotten on every talk and news show he wanted. He was a combat leader in 'Nam, he knew good men were going to die, and he knew the reason why was bogus.

First thing out of the Dem candidate's mouth will be that very question....where was his backbone?

Powell's a good soldier, and he fell on the grenade as he was told. But that's as far as he'll go. Any presidential potential he had probably disappeared after his speech before the UN.

They are floating her name out there so the GOP sounds like they are friendly to minorities, especially blacks.
