Republicans: We still hate gays, but we hate women MORE!
My local Air America played a fake commercial for a new show on FOX this fall: Republican Dating Game. No women, just hot man-on-man action!
It concluded with that phrase: We still hate gays, but we hate women MORE!

You know, I'm thinking that there is a lot of truth behind that.
I'll bet a lot of hyper-masculinity is based in hated/fear of women.

2. It's the terror neocon males have of having to wash their own socks...
And scrub their own toilets.

3. It is the root of homophobia
I believe that homophobia is rooted in misogyny. I think this is how homophobes think: Gay men are like women, therefore, they have sacrificed their manhood and are less than men. Lesbians are like men, therefore, they have sacrificed their femininity and try to be equal to men. Contempt for gay people is tied closely to contempt for women.

4. I agree
I also think that there's an aspect of "Lesbians are *trying* to be like men, and while we understand their desire (hell, we'd hate to be women too), we know they will never succeed. Because after all they're just 'little women' who got their 'pannies in a bunch'."

But watch how horrified they are when butches *do* succeed at being more masculine than them. Oh Lord, the hate they unleash. And for the women who date them. Hatred all around.

5. Point exemplified
If you haven't seen the Samantha Bee report from "The Daily Show" about hetero-nauseous, you should! It sums up your point exactly! The guy (some right wing Rethug) running for office was pissed that lesbians were "taking all the white women!" He was more worried about lesbians as competition. It was so fucking funny and sad all rolled up into one!

6. hatred of gays is based in hatred of women
at least, that's how it seems to me.

if you listen closely, the closest the right comes to a "logical" argument against gay marriage is one that assumes stereotypical gender roles to be inviolate truths. "Oh, we just CAN'T have two women raising a child! Those kids need a father's influence!" "And two men! OH, LORD! The horror!" "No man should have to miss meetings to bring a sick kid home from school...without a woman willing to shoulder the unpaid, undervalued work of child care, our companies may actually have to start respecting the work of parents! We can't let that happen!"

7. Yes - cutting Soc. Sec. too
the business of cutting social security for women is a dead give-away. If they valued "women's work" (caregiving for children, aging parnets, their spouses at the end) they would never have come up with that.

Republican values are a nest of hate - and they want the world to operate the way they think so they don't feel so sick.

9. It was an idea floated
by a senator - I am sure that was to see what the reaction would be.
The logic goes like this: Since women live longer than men, their Social Security benefits should be reduced.

11. misogyny is root
The hatred of feminism, and equality is root to everything the GOP
stands for. Be not fooled by the charade... the patriarchy is
making a power grab, worldwide. The only uniting issue is their
hatred of women, and more deeper, hatred of all that is feminine
in themselves and others.

12. you know it sister
It's culturally ingrained. Men are superior.. they have to be ...because ...God, made them in his image. And you know how he made a man and then the man took out his rib, and made the women, man gave birth to the woman, and that's how it's been ever since. Men having babies. Oh, no, that's not right . The women have babies. Gees, I guess that makes them dirty rotten sinners. There has been a virginity cult ever since cave men figured out they make babies. Paternity took precedence over maternity.

They don't want to admit that in-between our MULTIPLE and BETTER orgasms (who was the god who said he/she'd rather be a female - the orgasms were better?) we have a few seconds/hours/minutes of pain, but we get to have life, right inside, and feel like God.
It's a trip I loved - oh, it was nice - I was never so good to myself because of my kid.
And, well, for the most part, they always love us more. :P

14. Never was this more obvious than when I inadvertently found myself
immersed in a sea of "Promise Keepers" swarming into my Atlanta hotel for their "conference"--late check out was definitely a mistake on that occasion! Fortunately one of the male hotel staff took pity on me and help me get out the door and into a cab--I was literally getting trampled by these cretins who shoved me about--as though I didn't exist.
