Like Rap Music: You have to buy this CD
Edited on Sun Feb-20-05 07:16 PM by pstans
Rap artist Paris has a CD called Sonic Jihad. I heard him on Laura Flanders on January 29th. The CD talks about "Waging righteous warfare (hence the title) on all that he perceives as being wrong with the world in this current political climate of manufactured fear and War on Terror." http://www.guerrillafunk.com/paris/sonic_jihad/

Paris released his first album in 1990 that attacked Poppa Bu$h. He then got dropped from his record label. After a few years he started his own record label that includes Public Enemy. He is a smart guy and has a degree in Managerial Economics and has worked as a stock broker.

His website has some interesting information on the current political climate and financial planning. Check it out it has some interesting stuff. http://www.guerrillafunk.com/index.html

Get the CD at http://www.guerrillafunk.com/paris/sonic_jihad/

Here are some lyrics from the song "Evil"
See I’d have to find a way to keep the people enslaved
Behave, teach the babies it’s my way or the grave
And start with the body, workin’ labor for free
And give ‘em fake religion so they worshippin’ me

And if the heat get too hot, I’d plant a bomb
Or wreck a plane, just like Hitler back in the day
And scare all the people, they’d forget about me
They’d forget about elections and the way that we cheated

Then I’d make the play, takin’ all their freedoms away
Incarcerate anybody that’ll get in my way
Make ‘em censor any media that challenge the mold
Give ‘em bullshitty shows just like Anna Nicole’s

2. What would be an "entry level" rap CD...
...for someone who basically likes pop & rock? This one?

Some of the rap I hear seems sort of non-musical. But maybe I'm not hearing the right stuff. Guide me.

7. good for you.
I've meet very few people who are actually open to new music.

Since you are open, I'm quite sure you'll like it. "The Love Below" was arguably the most ground breaking album of the last ten years.

Many parallels between it and Prince's "Purple Rain."

4. I don't listen to a ton of rap music
Edited on Sun Feb-20-05 07:44 PM by pstans
But this was good. 3 of the 4 songs of Paris' I heard I liked.

The only time that I listen to rap is when I am working out and I listen to Eminem, Jay Z, or Outkast. I would definitly listen to this CD at the gym.

8. Listen to BTGOS
http://www.guerrillafunk.com/paris/devil_made_me_do_it/vid_grip_56k.html

This was widely played on Bay Area college stations in the early 90's....he's somewhat of an unknown (public enemy style) ..."Break the grip of Shame" was memorable then ...It's still pretty good. He was up and coming until all the record companies dumped him for his strong Anti Bush message (Bush Killa)...he subscribes to the Alex Jones realm of governmental conspiracy, and has a link to road to tyranny on his site...

9. Big into governmental conspiracy
I could tell from looking at the website that Paris was big into governmental conspiracy. Like he said that the government spread AIDS in the black community on purpose. I don't have enough information on that subject to believe that and it is a little hard to believe. But I think anyone who sees Bu$h as a phony and sees the Fascist government that is being set up is good. That is why I think if you listen to rap music that you should support someone who sticks their head out and says what he believes and buy their CD.
