Modern day war and economy?

I heard recently, on some radio show, about how modern day war does not help the economy.

Does anyone have any detailed info links on this?

and reliably obediant in voting on the issues that are used to milk-the-vote and stay in power.

3. We're spending billions that aren't producing American jobs.

Usually government spending will help boost the economy by providing jobs and creating consumer spending. With this war we're spending billions to rebuild and not creating jobs but for a very small section of Americans. Most of the profit from the (inflated) contracts in Iraq are only going to a tiny portion of corporate America. The rich are getting richer and the debt is causing the dollar to fall. The little guys (average joe) is taking the brunt of the impact.

...to get it if they had to work to earn it. Or, at least, it saves them the effort of having to work to earn it.

Work and effort is what makes the world a better place and makes the economy better. Therefore, modern war fucks up the economy.
