Dean has asked for bush* to swallow his pride and call on Bill Clinton
to help mediate the Middle East mess. I just heard this on the mp3 that wonk posted on this thread:

I think was was pretty gutsy by Dean to do that and also a great idea. Of course, bush* would never ask Bill for any help.

1. That was a stroke of genius
A perfect way to shore up Dean's own foreign policy as mainstream (vgs both Bush and Lieberman).

In Baltimore, Lieberman had just tried to deny Dean's common position with Clinton... and made himself look like a fool!

4. Genius is a good word for it!
And at the same time, Dean's invoking Clinton is a reminder of "peace and prosperity," as opposed to the god-awful mess we're in today.

2. I thought it was a good move, too
What will Pelosi say about that?
I love that Clinton himself will now be drawn into this...

Dean is triangulating the triangulators. Bravo, Doctor.

3. I don't know why Clinton would be particularly effective.
He certainly did his utmost to resolve the conflict while he was in office, but affected very little progress at the end of the day. And the current Intifada began months before his term ended.

If this is just a campaign ploy, fine. But I don't think there would be any great utility to sending Clinton over to the Middle East at the moment.

5. A hell of a lot greater utility...
...than leaving the matter to the neglect and mismanagement of the current regime...

7. Good one, Dean
He's a clever guy, I give him that. If the Republicans want to compare Clinton's record with Bush's, well, that's not a bad idea.
