Who was the 1st Pres. to smoke pot: Clinton, bush, Kennedy, Washington?
these weird ass tapes of bush speaking cryptically about smoking weed in his youth. did he start smoking weed and snorting cocaine around the same time as Bill? hard to say.

Kennedy is said to have been the first, I wouldn't know, I wasn't there. It is also rumored that he delved into amphetamines, which millions did. He also did the twist, a presidential distinction.

George Washington is said to have cultivated cannabis, made his own beer, wine, and whiskey, and raised hell. Don't know if he smoked it or not, wasn't there.

yet, here we all still are, living in a world where marijuana is illegal, and booze, zoloft, cigarettes, unsafe cars, polluted air, pre-emptive strikes, genocide, and fake reporters and fake presidents are LEGAL.

if your name is bush, you can snort tons of cocaine, drink vats of whiskey, smoke bales of buds and never fear of spending years in prison, or any other punishment, like common dopers.

and tommy chong was made to spend many months in jail for the crime of making funny movies about stoned out hippies, many years ago.
chong sold no drugs to any federal agents, made no drug transaction whatsoever, and is much older than 'the president', but they didn't cut HIM any slack for nothin' dude.

MILLIONS of us have tried it mr. bush, and millions of us have payed the price in fines, loss of income, and imprisonment. some of us have the guts to at least admit that we've tried it, and came away from the experience unharmed. some like it, some don't, just like whiskey and cocaine.

Clinton and bush both should've just been real and said, 'sure, i did a lot of stupid stuff in college, but not anymore' and be done with it. but they both played it cagey, afraid to admit it in public for fear of their political futures, and ignored the thousands of non violent political prisoners being imprisoned only for enjoying a good smoke.

mr. bush, i would not feel so all alone, EVERYBODY must get stoned.

3. If Marijuana were legalized ...
Edited on Tue Feb-22-05 07:10 PM by Crisco
you'd see Frito-Lay start buying up available acre of farmland in California, Washington, and Tennesee. And every other state with a prime climate.

In those days, there was no such thing as a marketing industry to push the shit on people.

Be careful what you wish for.

7. Not that I doubt you
Since lots of people grew and smoked it back in the day, but wasn't that just a line from the movie "Dazed and Confused"? Is there any real historical data on this?

My Dad's doctor used to give him pot for asthma when he was a kid. I think it was just accepted as medicine back then.. It still is IMO.

14. he and at least one of the other founding fathers
specially imported "hemp seeds" from India (where high THC cannabis had been selectively bred for centuries)
this was seperate from the fiber hemp that they already grew

9. Yeah, I wasn't getting Lionel's deal last night
Just couldn't figure out his angle. Of course, * smoking the kind is no issue with me. The issue is the incarceration of others for the exact same activity he engaged in.

He is so ashamed of the fact that he smoked pot and became President he wants to lie about it? The lie is the shame. It's like saying you're embarrased because you have ears.

People like * who may abuse it, then turn around and support draconian laws against people with medical issues. are completely cruel, selfish scumbags.

"I desire mercy..." Who said that?

13. The laws do no good...
I got arrested two years ago, twice, once for smoking on the beach on the 4th of july, and once through an illegal search on my car where they found a pipe in my bag in the trunk. The second time I was arrested I was also left handcuffed to a wall in a room alone for like three hourss, and harrassed and intimidated by the police (who tried to not let my girlfriend bail me out). I ended up having to pay like $200 total in fines, and like $2,500 for lawyers. Because of this, I am ineligable for federal college aid, but luckily I am going to university in scotland and have to pay very little. The drug war has accomplished nothing positive, and has only hurt millions who are otherwise law-abiding citizens.

19. That really sucks
I'm willing to bet that 9 out of 10 regular pot smokers are completely law abiding otherwise. Smoking pot is not a crime, but throwing smokers in jail is.

15. If you're talking "Modern Presidents" I'd say Teddy Roosevelt
He was really into "Nature" and he was always Smiling. :hippie: Pot was legal in this country until the 1930's, and the Vice-President's job in the 1890's, was basically, sit around and wait for the President to die. You'd have to be "Stoned" to do that job.

TR just looked Stoned.:silly:

he played in the movies. The prosecution used his image from the films to portray him as a stoner to the jury.

21. Newsflash: Chong IS a stoner......
He himself would admit as much.

Now was it right for them to bust this particular paraphenalia shop(at the fed level)? I would say no. Except some states have more strigent laws. Here in CA, there's 4 or 5 yellows pages full of smoke shops selling the same thing. But I could never find one in NJ. But I'm not a lawyer.

22. Chong Wasn't Prosecuted for Being a Stoner
Chong was made an example of because he was using the internet - and in the process bypassing 'community standards' ordinances - taking his business to a place local legislations and law enforcement had no control over.

25. Reagan might have smoked pot
There was a story a few years back that both Ronald and Nancy Reagan tried pot when Reagan was governor of California. Allegedly Nancy said she and Ronnie couldn't see what the big deal about pot was. I think that episode was in a Kitty Kelley book but I'm not sure.

26. It definitely wasn't Clinton. But thanks to hateful republicans and the
media, Clinton is the first. I was at a restaurant the other day and was waiting for a table to clear, toward the back, on the wall, there was a clinton doll with a fat marijuana cigarette in his mouth with sunshades while holding a saxaphone. At first it ticked me off but I figure it's been up there all this time, they won't take it down. I'm waiting when Bush* is out of office, this same restaurant will have a doll of Bush up there looking like a chimp. They probably won't.

31. I was with a group of about 12 people.
And I believe this chain does pretty good. It appears to be a laid back establishment. Joe's Crab Shack. It's a really fun place, though. The waitstaff dance to the music every now and then.
