7. Well their main reason for existing, a cover to plant Gannon/Guckert into
the WH press corps, is over. Since they are unlikely to be able to get one of their other members (say, the high school kid at the link below) into the WH press corps now, the expense money from Rove will likely no longer be forthcoming.

14. Apparently much of the 'articles' and 'content' on Talon were
plagiarized... being a front, not too much effort was put into 'writing' there.

http://rawstory.com/news/2005/index.php?p=112

They're probably collapsing the whole site now because any scrutinization of the site would reveal plagiarism in most articles and they can't be bothered to suddenly start actually writing.

Rove never graduated college so he's probably not of much help generating copy for the site.

29. Some of their writers did write their own articles
There's one in particular, Jeremy Reynalds, that I have followed for over a year who wrote lots of stuff. About a third of his writing had to do with 'inside' information that he supposedly had regarding assorted terrorists. Reynalds and a few others were the primary source of terrorist 'noise' that triggered some of the alerts last year. So it's not just the plagiarizing that they are trying to hide. It is their secondary role has a 'noise' machine for the WH and Homeland Security that they don't want anyone to discover either.

BushCountry still has links to Reynalds articles if anyone cares to take a look at the crap this jackass likes to spew.

11. I am starting to get the feeling that the whole site will be gone very
soon.

It's no longer providing any useful service as a front for Gannon/Guckert, and the continued existence of the site, with the ability to scrutinize the hackwork that passes for "journalism" there, is a liability for shrubco and further evidence of their propagandization of America.

HAHA, yeah, #1 Client.

KR: "Well Bobby, I guess with your boy out of my bedroom, we can close up his cover story."

BE: "But won't that look suspicious? It'll look as if we created TalonNews as a front to assuage Ari's lame concerns."

KR: "Don't worry, I'm working out a way to 'fix it' all now. I'll only need three or four dumb rubes to throw under the train. I've got a couple in mind."

BE: "But what about George? Has he figured it out yet? Won't he get jealous?"

KR: "Hell, you think Dubya would be where he is today if that dumb bitch knew how to weigh the evidence of the world around him and come to a logical conclusion? He's happier not knowing. He's never been good with rejection."

17. Ok, I see the problem.
For some reason when I paste the link a space is added between the "b" after "web" and the slash mark. When you copy and past the link into your browser just remove the space between the b and the slash, that should fix the problem.

21. Did "Jeff" actually attend a journalism school?
Jeff lives on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC and covers the White House for Talon News. He writes a syndicated column, "Jeff Gannon's Washington," that appears on his website: www.jeffgannon.com.

He is a frequent guest on talk radio appearing on nationally syndicated and local shows.

Jeff is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University System and holds a Bachelor of Science in Education. He is also a graduate of the Leadership Institute Broadcast School of Journalism.

Daschle Claims Questionable Tax Credit for DC Home
By Jeff Gannon
Talon News
August 13, 2003

WASHINGTON (Talon News) -- Sen. Tom Daschle's (D-SD) new Washington home has been giving the Senate minority leader headaches of late. Last week, Club for Growth, the Washington-based, anti-tax group, began airing ads in South Dakota that imply the senator's "very, very, very big house" purchased in April for $1.9 million betrays his down-home image.

Now another controversy surrounding the palatial French colonial on Washington's exclusive Foxhall Road has emerged. A Talon News search of DC property records revealed that Daschle is receiving the homestead tax credit.

The District of Columbia allows a $30,000 deduction against a property's tax assessment for the calculation of taxes. Even though every owner-occupied property is eligible for the tax credit, it was enacted to protect lower income homeowners from sharp increases in property taxes due to skyrocketing property values in Washington.

24. How many thousands in unpaid taxes has "Jeff" incurred?
Also, it's expensive to live on Capitol Hill, as "Jeff's" bio indicates. Did GOPUSA advertise? How did it make money, enough to pay "Jeff's" salary, or was rent subsidized through prostitution?

Edited on Wed Feb-23-05 08:41 AM by izzybeans
nothing. but the "historian" commenting on the 2000 election and Bill Clinton's pension plan was from Gannon University which is in Erie Pennslyvania. That was pretty much it.

But I did a goodle search for the author of these articles and discovered that this news service is sometimes called conservative news services. did it at some point go through a name change?

http://www.google.com/search?q=Justin+Torres+CNS&hl=en&lr=&c2coff=1&rls=RNWE,RNWE:2004-19,RNWE:en&start=10&sa=N

Most of this guy's articles seem to cherrypick "gay conspiracy incidents". He's an attack dog.

34. Gannon worked for CNS news?
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1128306/posts

snip

Jeff Gannon of CNS News stopped by to talk with the FReepers.

BufordP recognized Michael Fumento, author of The Myth of Heterosexual Aids and conservative columnist, who concentrates on scientific issues. Buford, who had read Fumento's book, talked with him for quite a while.

snip

then found this blog about CNS news that is informative on the news service-I haven't read anything else on it so don't hold me on the rest of the content.

http://democracyguy.typepad.com/democracy_guy_grassroots_/2005/02/another_fake_go.html

snip

Very interesting that Blackwell managed to buy the support of CNS News. (I say "buy" because I don't doubt for one second that money changed hands over this.) That alone tells you what kind of a corrupt governor he'd be if he were elected. I wonder if Petro and Montgomery are purchasing similar propaganda

I'm not very savvy with this sort of thing. I just stumbled ac crossed them while exploring GOPUSA (most of the "news" stories on there are direct from CNS news- so I then googled Gannon CNS and got the link to the free republic which had a post on it giving thanks to Gannon from "CNS news". I wondered if there had been some additional scrubbing that was overlooked. CNS news is also known as conservativenews network. The webpages are the same two different links. Try www.conservativenews.net and www.cnsnews.com see you what you get.

subject: freeping the white house correspondents
date: 5/2004

To: bvw
One other thing... Jeff Gannon (CNS News) came up to the bar/restaurant looking for us. He said he knew we wouldn't be a boring bunch to have dinner with. We all had a good time at dinner; and ran the poor waitress ragged with our dinner orders - we were hungry and very thirsty after FReeping.

To: alisasny; tgslTakoma; BillF; Jeff Gannon; All
Jeff Gannon writes for Talon News, not CNS.
He's a fine young man who has brought a much needed different perspective to the daily White House press briefings

posted by kristenn

Me: why did the people who hung out with him after the event think he worked for CNS and need correcting by a freeper?
