Our Nation is Liberal
Want proof?

Look at the RW. They are always saying "Schools are too Liberal, the Media is too Liberal, Hollywood is too Liberal"

Look at Sean Hannity. Equating Liberalism to Terrorism. Is he jealous, is he crazy, or does he know that Regressivism is dying and he has to do some fear mongering to keep it alive?

Look at Michael Savage. Have you seen his book, the Savage Solution? The Savage Solution? What is he, a Nazi? Like Hannity, he has to resort to extremism, fear, and bigotry to keep his dying ideology alive.

Our nation is Liberal and the RW knows it. Don't believe the Right when they say Election Results prove our nation is Conservative. You can thank Diebold and the fear of Terrorist attacks for that.

Our nation will always be Liberal and no amount of RW Fear Mongering, Extremism, or Bigotry could ever change that.

1. If our nation is liberal...
why did 60 million+ vote for a tax-cutting, war mongering, right wing religious wacko? And why did they increase the GOP majority in both houses of government over the past three fu*kin elections?

Our nation isn't liberal...It's stupid. And the pubs have their base brainwashed into thinking they are threatened by the left.

2. I agree with you.
There are too many examples of just how RW and reactionary this nation has become. Just ask some of those Iraqi children laying in understaffed, under-supplied hospitals with no legs, no arms and no families how "liberal" the US is...

3. Because the pubbies have put the time, money, and effort into
* Building a highly efficient political machine
* Taking control of the media at many levels from local communities to national outlets
* Developing LimbaughHannitySavage, etc. so that those are the voices the people hear
* Placing pubbie secretaries of state in places where they can skew the vote
* Crafting an image for Schimpanski so many people genuinely believe that he is moral, resolute, principled, and strong (I know, hard to believe)
* Infiltrating the vote-counting industry (not just black-box) so they can tweak the numbers -- not at will, but enough
* Leveraging the power of incumbency more efficiently than Democrats (look at Texas, for example)

The bottom line is that these guys may be traitors, quislings, and incompetents when it comes to governing, but they're damn fine politicians.

And there's hope -- they've proved that you don't have to give up your principles (in their case, "f*ck you, I've got mine") to win. Neither do we.

It's not the people, it's the politicians.

4. I think he explains that
They've been hoodwinked. In part cause of 9/11, in part because President Bush ahs always tried to play the part of the moderate Conservative (Compassionate conservatisim?)

Of course it also depends on what you mean by liberal.

5. "stupid"
I wonder how many voters the Democratic Party will ever win-over if they adopt your view that our nation is "Stupid?" When I read your post, I know exactly WHY the Reubs keep winning. I only hope that every-day "stupid" voters don't read the posts here at DU or they will never vote for another Democrat again. "Brainwashed?"

6. If this nation is actually "liberal",
but can be "hoodwinked" or "frightened" into acting rightwing, isn't that a form of "brainwashing"? And what kind of "media control" would it take for you to go RW?

7. I'm going to say something
that will be very depressing, but it is my view that the practically destitute churchgoing whites of not only the South but elsewhere also have a strong subconscious desire to identify with their own race and, now, sexual orientation.

They will always vote against any party which represents the "others" of the nation.

These people are not FOR anything except perhaps Armageddon. They know very well what they are against, though.

8. Yes, I know some of these very
"destitute churchgoing whites" (family, unfortunately) and "gays", "abortion" and "Christian dominance" trump any other concerns regarding for whom they vote. I have argued until I was "blue in the face" with these...people, but to no avail. They steadfastly refuse to vote for their own interests, yet will lament how terrible things are for the "poor" and "working people". When I try to show them how supporting the Democratic Party and its ideals would be beneficial to them and those like them, they balk at the "values" chimera...

9. It's hard to fight The Politics of Fear
In the right hands, the very real fear of terrorism can easily be manipulated into fear of (in no particular order): women, gays, scientific progress, investigative journalism, secularism, racial minorities, poor people, quality education, foreigners, taxes for social programs..and, of course, lib-ruls. Let's just hope this never happens. Oh, wait....
