Sorry, Germany

German riot police stand beside a campaign poster against cloning during an anti-U.S. President George W. Bush demonstration in the south-western German city of Mainz February 23, 2005. Police turned the small Rhine River town of Mainz into a fortress in preparation for President Bush's visit Wednesday. In one of Germany's biggest post-war security operations, frogmen searched the Rhine for explosives, 1,300 manhole covers were welded shut and thousands of local residents were displaced. Slogan reads 'You decide - don't give clones a chance.'

4. I know, and his visit is disrupting everyplace he goes
turning these towns into "fortresses." He's a disgrace and an embarrassment.

8. haHA!!! "Ich und Du"
My parents (artsy academic liberals) read me a kids' poetry book written in German when I was little, titled "Ich und Du" -- even though I didn't understand a word of it. They just thought I'd like the music of the sounds, or something. This may explain why I'm screwed up today.

I remember this one especially (more or less):

Ich und du,
Mullers Kuh.
Mullers Esel
Da bist du.

Rough translation (I took German in college, maybe so I could understand the mystery that was "Ich und Du"):

Me and you
Farmer's cow.
Farmer's ass
That is you.

 Just thought I'd share.

10. Is it not the same?
I thought a donkey was an ass, but maybe "ass" doesn't have the same double-meaning in German as in English?
