1. So basically, Ken gets another year before he needs to leave
the country. Wonder where he'll set up shop?

3. Verdict to be handed down June 20, 2006
Pardon to be signed on June 21, 2006. Ken Lay to run for President in 2008 so he can return the favor if the need arises.

5. Martha Stewart will have completely served her sentence by then.
What a load of bullshit.

They're not even *going to trial* for another year? Seriously?

I bet Georgie Bush won't be crying about tort reform on this one.

7. Ken Lay had been pushing for an earlier trial date
He was especially frantic before the election. Now, his attorneys are going along with the attorneys of the other defendants. (Still time for a pardon....)

I'd also heard a change of venue was requested. No such luck.

Local lawyer David Berg said that jury selection will be critical for the defendants.

"We're more than four years out from the bankruptcy but I think the rancor, the bitterness runs deep against Enron," said Berg. "I don't think if you tried this case well into this century it would make much of a difference."
