How long can Bush get away with lies?
http://www.suntimes.com/output/greeley/cst-edt-greel25.html

As the criminal, sinful war in Iraq enters its third year, the president goes to Europe to heal the wounds between the United States and its former allies, on his own terms of course. The White House propaganda mill will hail it as another victory for the president and ignore the fact that most Europeans still consider the war dangerous folly and the president a dangerous fool.

One hears new rationalizations for the war on this side of the Atlantic. After the hearings on Secretary of State Rice, a Republican senator, with all the self-righteous anger that characterizes many such, proclaimed, "The Democrats just have to understand that the president really believed there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq." This justification is not unlike the one heard frequently at the White House, "The president believed the intelligence agencies of the world."

Would it not be much better to have a president who deliberately lied to the people because he thought a war was essential than to have one who was so dumb as to be taken in by intelligence agencies, especially those who told him what he wanted to hear?

It is also asserted that the election settled the matters of the war and the torture of prisoners. These are dead issues that no longer need be addressed. Yet the president received only 51 percent of the vote and carried only one more state than the last time (picking up New Mexico and Iowa and losing New Hampshire). This is a validation of the war and of prisoner abuse? This is a mandate to do whatever he wants to do and whatever the leadership of the evangelical denominations want? A percentage point and a single state are a mandate for more war? Never before in American political history!

2. As long as he wants to. A media that will NEVER call him on anything that
might hurt his image. He's their cowboy posterboy who helps the corporations and controls FCC regulations...He can lie and lie as long as he wants to.

4. As Long As He Wants Too
He's been doing it since being appointed to the office. And if the last election is any indicator, he can do it for the rest of his life.

I guess we who dissent need to start worrying, because if he or one of his surrogates can convince the sheep that we are a danger to the
security of the nation, we are screwed.

7. Hilarious, in a twisted sort of way...
... "The president believed the intelligence agencies of the world."

Funny that he didn't pay any attention to the intelligence agencies of the world when they were trying to warn of an impending attack before 9/11.... :grr:

Even funnier that, with regard to Iraq, "intelligence agencies of the world" translates to the UK and Israel and Italy. UNMOVIC, Russia, Germany, France and other countries in the Mideast were saying, "nope, we don't see WMDs."

Good thing for Bush that the US is a nation of political Rip Van Winkles....

Eventually 'karma' will bite him on the ass and he'll end up in Circle Nine (for Traitors) in Dante's Inferno.

12. Not for long....everything unravels and catches up with these criminals
I know my voice is in the minority, however, this bunch are on their way out. This is all going to pile up and who knows what other scandals are going to explode on them. As a Criminal Justice major, the dumb criminals always get caught and pulled over for the broken headlight while they have thousands and thousands of pounds Crack, Heroine and Cocaine in the trunk.

They're on their way to getting pulled over and ARRESTED, PROSECUTED AND PUNISHED!!!!!!

Waiting for the IMPEACHMENT WHILE THE SCANDALS KEEP UNFOLDING

15. Bush's lies won't be discovered for 20-30 years, maybe longer
After a while, presidential historians will be able to look back at the Bush administration objectively, without the biased media screaming at them, and be able to see what they have done. I'm sure that history will judge Bush to be the worst president in US history, but the country will need some time for the dust to settle and for people to take a real look at what he has done to this country.
