Who is your most detested politician of all time?
I have to go with Dick Cheney right now.

Would have put Bush, but of course he's not really running the show. It's Cheney.

1. The only answer possible is Bush.
Cheney might be a worse individual BUT the question was who is most detested.

Gee-Dubya, Cheney, Poppy, Reagan, Nixon, Spiro Agnew, and Sen. Joe McCarthy.

Sincerely, among these choices, it's hard to pick....

ON EDIT: This is only AMERICAN Politicians. Others that could be thrown in, non-American, would be Pol Pot, Hitler, Mussolini, Julius Ceasar, Torquemada...who else??

16. It's hard to pick just one, isn't it?
Your list has many of the same ones I'd have on it.

10. Stalin
Hey, nobody said this was an American thing.

Stalin is one of the most fascinating and revolting figures in history, ever. As much as I despise Bush, he ain't no Stalin. (yet)

11. As they say, all politics is local...
...so I'd have to go with Tom DeLay. He re-drew the congressional lines in Texas, giving my neighborhood Pete Sessions instead of Martin Frost. I can't wait for DeLay to be indicted and sent to jail where he belongs.

15. Newt
he's responsible for so much of what we're experiencing today. He set this hate-fueled corporate ownership talk-radio brainwashing mess in motion.
Remember, this is the man who blamed Democrats for Susan Smith drowning her two sons. And convinced people this was true. (never mind her Republican committeema stepfather had been molesting her since middle-school.)
He wrote the book, literally, on the politics of divisiveness and distortion. We're reaping what Newt has sown.
And our country is suffering because of it.
By the way, in 2000 he said the winner of the popular vote should be the president. Then, afterward, he crabwalked away from his booming pre-election boasting.
And, he called Hillary a bitch. Putting in play the acceptance of venal behavior towards her.
Newt. The most destructive politician of our time.
Why does he hate America?

17. I dunno. Bush is at least good at a kegger. I pick DeLay.
He is more hateful, and altogether more intolerable.

19. Nixon...
... among Americans. Hard to know among foreigners since civilization is so much older than America (at least in its present incarnation).

The WW2 big three are always candidates, of course: Hitler, Stalin and Tojo. El Duce was bad, but in a junior league compared to the others.

One of the original imperialists: Julius Caesar who stole countless tracks of land from their rightful owners. He was a total bastard. Stab him again for me, Brutus.

Torquemada: Grand Inquisitor of Spain

Pol Pot who murdered 1/3 of his country.

Constantine who turned Christianity into a political weapon for the rich and powerful.

Among Americans, I pick Nixon. He was the first in recent memory to use devisiveness as a political weapon. His Southern Push intentionally used race and civil rights as a wedge issue in the South to turn Southern whites away from their D. roots and towards the Rs. He laid the foundation for Reagan and later for Dubya.

Roger Tawny, former Chief Justice of the U.S., often blamed for the Civil War by declaring "free states" and the Nebraska compromise unconstitutional. Per Tawny: "A black man has has no rights that a white man is bound to respect."
