Rep Johnson (R-Texas) ön syria: "I can fly an F-15, put two nukes on 'em"
http://www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com/archives/003628.html

"Speaking at a veterans' celebration at Suncreek United Methodist Church in Allen, Texas, on Feb. 19, Johnson told the crowd that he explained his theory to President Bush and Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas) on the porch of the White House one night.

Johnson said he told the president that night, "Syria is the problem. Syria is where those weapons of mass destruction are, in my view. You know, I can fly an F-15, put two nukes on 'em and I'll make one pass. We won't have to worry about Syria anymore."

The crowd roared with applause."

i wonder what his thoughts are on ward churchil...

17. Take a look at "Atomic Cafe..."
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083590/

There is documentary footage of "man on the street" interviews with Americans who see no reason not to use the bomb on the Reds. Included are a couple of religious figures, including a priest.

It was a real "What the...?" moment for me to see Christian leaders advocating the use of nuclear weapons.

7. I love it.
They have absolutely ZERO evidence of any WMD being in Iraq or have ever being there in the past 7 years. We have done exhaustive searches for them, as did the UN. Our best people have said on record that there is NO evidence of WMD being shipped to Syria. And all this idiot has to do is keep propagating the MYTH and these morans start clapping like drunken seals.

No only that but his basic statement is: "They have WMD's, lets nuke 'em."

Nothing like an honest, culture of life Repukelican.

12. If they moved the WMDs to Syria without us know
then what the hell do we even have a CIA for?

20. What About Those Satellites?
CIA or no CIA, we have billions of dollars of surveillance satellites in orbit. Many have moveable orbits, so we can focus in on areas of the world we feel are necessary to view.

If we have this resource at our disposal, and didn't notice any major movement of trucks or trains from the locations of weapons facilities or storage bunkers, then why have them at all?

The rightwing likes to use this "they moved them to Syria" meme as if it gets their heroes off the hook. But, with billions of dollars of surveillance hardware at our disposal, they are further indicting these buffoons for utter incompetence.

8. Know where's he's coming from? I do. He's a former fighter pilot
from the Korean and Vietnam wars who was shot down and held as a POW in Hanoi for about 7 years. He was known in prison circles as a hard-ass resister.

He has a book out titled "Captive Warriors"
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0890964963/qid=1109621026/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-8372218-0199934?v=glance&s=books

Although he was not one of the "Swifties" and former POWs involved in the smearing of John Kerry last year, this guy is, IMO, little more than a butt-boy for Bush, representing one of the richer districts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area (I believe). What a waste.

9. people don't understand the implications of nukes
This sort of talk only plays down to their ignorance. It makes nuclear war seem like one of the options when any sane person knows that nuclear war is just not one of the choices.

13. And then they wonder why on earth...
Iran, North Korea, and every other little nation would want nuclear weapons, and how they could even consider using them against us.

10. GAWD!
KILL! KILL! KILL! Is this all these people know how to do? Is this their solution to every and all 'problems' created by their hatred? How long before the rest of the World decides to deal with the U.S. in the same manner? And I can't imagine sitting in that audience and roaring with applause at such a sick statement. I have nothing in common with these 'people', for which I am extremely grateful.

14. Where the weapons are "in my view"
In bush's "view" they were in Iraq, in cheney's "view" they are still in Iraq. What a sad state of affairs when some old Texas politician (God Bless him for his military service) wants to drop Nukes on a foreign country. Of course, the god fearing, life loving conservative base "roared" with applause. How many things are wrong with this picture?

16. Exactly, BOSSHOG, it's all in the view.
No evidence of WMDs from this congressman, just his "view", applauded by a group of sycophants, a collection of uninformed lunatics, believing a man nuttier than squirrel poop.

Anything to get re-elected.

Who were the witnesses? I doubt it was taped. Who reported this initially?

Where does the story start?!?!?!?

24. This story is on redstate.org w/ comments
http://azizhp.redstate.org/story/2005/2/28/12542/9856

Some of the comments:

"You'd need more nukes than that. I'm ashamed of my fellow Texan for underestimating the ordnance needed. Always pack more bullets than you think you need."

In reply:
"two nukes would be plenty to take out the capital. The rest of the country would fold pretty fast. I think it's do-able, but I'd use a stealth launched from the great plains rather than a locally-base F16."

sigh...

26. Post a comment over there that 10% of Syria is Christian
Or I guess they'd respond that the approximately 2 million Christians in Syria would gladly fall under a Bush-Nuke for the American Ideal.
